Azalea

The next morning I was woken up to snarling and hard breathing. I opened my eyes, Colby was on top of me.

His fangs were out and his eyes were red. They were filled with hunger, with only one intention. To kill. My arms were pinned above my head.

This wasn't the Colby I knew yesterday. The one yesterday was thoughtful and kind. This one is dangerous and thirsting for blood.

"Colby what are you doing?" I shrieked.

"Shh it'll hurt less."

His fangs nipped at my neck, then lunged themselves into my flesh. I felt my blood draining. Slowly. I couldn't stop him.

"S-stop." I gasped.

The air around me was going away. It was getting harder to breathe. In any second I was for sure to die. So I prepared myself for death.

Colby took one more gulp then suddenly stopped. He reattracted his fangs then pushed himself off me.

He searched through his drawers in a panic, pulling out guazes and a bottle of clear liquid.

I felt my eyelids getting heavy. Colby told me to stay with him. I tried to breath steadily but it was hard.

He put the clear liquid in his mouth then injected it into the bite marks. My heart began to pound ferociously, only a second ago it was close to failing.

After he was done putting the liquid into my wounds, he stuffed pieces of guaze in them. Then finished it off with a piece of tape so nothing would leak out.

"I'm sorry I couldn't help myself. I-" He walked out of the room, pulling his hair.

"C-" I couldn't speak.

I got out of bed, it felt like a ton of bricks were being thrown on me. I still managed to stand up.

Colby was right outside his room. I reached out a hand to touch him, to tell him that I was okay, but he moved away.

He told me not to touch him and that was he was afraid that he would hurt me again.

"It's...ok." I breathed in between words.

"Scotty! Take her to the other side of the castle and put her in room five."

Scotty stopped in his tracks and picked me up. He bowed his head then carried me to the other side of the castle.

While we turned the corner I caught a glimpse of Colby's eyes. They weren't red, they were blue.

The most mesmerizing blue you could ever dream of. Bluer than the skies itself.

When we were in the room he layed me down on the bed. Then carefully tucked me in.

Instead of leaving he sat in the rocking chair that was beside the bed. He was actually...nice.

"No hard feelings for the other day right? I was just joking around." He spoke.

"Y-yeah no...hard feelings."

"I'll ask the chefs to make you some soup. It'll help you gain your strength back."

He called out to the chefs, making a order for chicken noodle soup. I thanked him.

"You know Colby isn't all bad. I mean he can be a ballsack sometimes but he has his reasonings for it." Scotty sat on the bed.

"Reasonings?"

"Yeah it's not really my place to say but when Colby was human he probably had the worse life anyone could have. His parents were awful, they beat and neglected him almost every day. When he was eighteen he got jumped by a group of guys who bullied him at school. They beat him until he was close to death. He had bruises everywhere. I found him and turned him into a vampire. I couldn't let him die. Years later he took over this town, he takes his anger out on humans because they caused him the most pain. But you, I knew when he first layed eyes on you that he had to have you. You make him a different person. Colby would've drank all your blood if you were anyone else." He explained.

The chefs brought my soup and gave it to Scotty. He told me that he would feed it to me so I wouldn't have to move alot.

I allowed his nice gesture. The soup tasted odd but not nasty. It had a slight taste of salt and iron.

It sent my taste buds to life, and it made my pulse quicken. The best soup I've ever tasted.

"What's in this?" I licked my lips.

"You really want to know."

"Nevermind."

He laughed, his fangs peeked out. But I wasn't scared, I knew he wouldn't hurt me. Just like colby said.

"I want to talk to him." I said.

"If you wish it."

With one hand he helped me up. I held onto the wall for balance. Scotty stood close behind me to make sure I didn't fall.

My strength was barely back, although I felt better than I did an hour ago. I let go of the wall, instantly loosing my balance.

Colby came out of no where and caught me before I hit the floor. I probably would've blacked out if I fell.

Counting in my head this is the fifth time he's saved me from something bad.

"Sir." Scotty bowed then waved us bye.

"Can I talk to you?"

He took me to his room and closed his door so we could have some privacy. He stared at me, waiting for me to speak.

"Scotty told me something." I played with my fingers.

"Like?"

"About your story. How you were treated bad by your parents and those boys. Colby I'm so sorry."

I did something I thought I would never do. I embraced him in a tight hug.

He froze up for a second then hugged me back. I felt so bad for him, he's been through a lot.

If people knew about his story I bet they wouldn't hate him so much.

"I've never met anyone like you before. Someone so nice after I've hurt you. After I took you away from your mother. Why don't you hate me?" He shook his head, confused.

"Because I know You're not a bad person Colby. You're just hurt and you're trying to make other people feel how you feel. I can help you be happy."

"No one can make me happy."

"Let me try please." I put my hands on his shoulders.

"Why should I?" He questioned.

"Because no one should be unhappy it doesn't matter if you're a vampire. I don't want to see you sad."

"Very well. You may try, thank you."

I gave him another hug, he was so warm. That was weird, he was freezing when I first met him.

I'm glad he's letting me help him. Now he will finally be happy for once. And maybe he won't terrorize the town anymore.

Hopefully the people will accept him if I get him to change. Everyone deserves a second chance.

"Oh and one more what's in the soup?" I asked.

"The chicken noodle? Oh um chicken, chicken broth, noodles, and a dash of blood. Why?"

My eyes widened. I felt the soup forcing itself up. I crawled to his bathroom and threw up in the toilet.

Never eating the soup again.....
