The way I Do

The next couple of days went by as usual. We had practice every day for the rest of the week. Joey would pick me up and we would head over to the theatre. Denise got over her food poisoning and took her place as February. I sat in the front row watching them run through the musical numbers. "Alright let's go over the love song with Dylan, Meredith, Joey and Denise. AJ, can you give us the first notes?" Darren asked.

Darren Criss had come in for a few days to help with the music. The song was going smoothly, everyone singing on key. A few times I saw both Joey and AJ looking at me. I was used to Joey but not AJ. (CRASH!) "AJ are you ok? What happened?" Meredith asked concerned.

"yea, im fine, just slipped on something." He said rubbing his back.

They helped him up and he picked his chair up. He gave me a goofy smile and sat back down. I had never notice before but AJ was kind of cute. He was always in the back so no one ever noticed him. I remember watching "Me and My Dick" and I was blown away by his performance as Joey's heart.

The song finished and Joey sat down next to me and gave me a red vine. Dylan began his villain song and Brian chimed in for the reprise. We left practice at 6 and went with a group to get dinner at a Japanese steakhouse. There was me, joey, Dylan, Meredith, AJ, Joe, Hannah, and Brian. Joe had picked up Hannah after practice. I sat next to Joey and AJ sat across from me next to Brian. After ordering our food and drinks, Brian started us singing "Hermione Can't Draw" just for a joke. The chef came to our table mid-song and laughed. He started cooking and shot sake into our mouths. AJ caught the first piece of egg in his mouth and everyone followed after him. After our food was done, everyone calmed down to eat. Dylan and Meredith shared a few bites of steak off his plate; they were so cute together.

Joey got up to use the bathroom and AJ waited until he was gone and sat down in his seat. "Hey emma, are you and joey dating?" he asked.

"well he hasn't really asked me to be his girlfriend. We had a few dates but that's all." I said confused.

"Well, um..I...um..would you like to, I don't know, go out on a date with me?" he asked.

I saw Joey coming out of the corner of my eye and quickly said yes. AJ kissed my hand and ran back to his seat. He smiled at me across the table and I blushed. Joey didn't seem to notice as he was still chowing down on his steak and rice. Everyone finished and a few of us got dessert, Dylan, Meredith, AJ and I. We left the restaurant at 8 and everyone headed home. Joey said he would take me home but I asked him to hold on while I ask AJ something. "Hey AJ, can I see your phone?" I asked with my hand out.

"Yea sure, here ya go." He said handed it to me.

I turned it on and entered my number into his contacts and sent myself a text. "Now you have my number and I have yours." I said handing it back.

AJ smiled, gave me a hug, and walked over to his car. I got in joey's car and we sped off toward my house. Feeling tired, I went right to bed after getting home. Joey didn't say much on the way here, maybe he knows. My phone lit up with a text from AJ, then another one:

"Hey Emma J"

"Do you wanna go with me to this concert in downtown tomorrow?"

I texted back:

"Yea sure! I'd love to, what time?"

We texted back and forth for a few hours until I fell asleep with my phone in hand.

I awoke the next morning and saw 3 more texts from AJ:

"Hey Emma J"

"I'll pick you up at 11"
