Finding Their Anchors

I was looking at the ceiling blankly when my phone went off. I just got a text from Derek.

Go to our house. You and Erica. -Derek

Again? What the hell? I lazily hopped out of my comfy bed and go through my closet. I picked a black skinny jeans, a black tight v-neck shirt, a navy blue blazer and a pair of navy blue high heels. I put on some accessories and very light make-up.

I walked out of my room and knocked on Erica's door. She didn't answer, so I let myself in. She grabbed her phone and shoved it in her pocket.

"Come on, let's go." She got out of her room and I followed.

"I'm driving." She looked at me with a 'seriously?' look.

"Nope. I am." She got in our car and sat on the driver's seat. I groaned and slammed the car door shut.

She drove all the way to Derek's way too fast. I almost bumped my forehead on the window when she pulled the brake. We got out of the car and walked through the woods. We walked until we get on their door and knocked. Cora opened the door and smiled. We smiled back, even though mine was kinda forced.

"So, why'd your brother wants us to come?" Erica sat on one of the couches.

"Derek wants you two to find your anchors." Cora sipped on her tea.

"Anchors?" I asked and she nodded.

"It means... your weakness." She thought about it for a second. "It's like when you think about it, you'll control yourself. Even on a full moon." She corrected herself. Erica and I just nodded.

Just in time, Derek came out, his arms crossed. We looked at him and he just looked back at us.

"What?"

"I need you two to transform." He uncrossed his arms.

"How?" I leaned my back on the couch.

"Actually, I need you two to get angry." He added.

"How?" Erica repeated my question and leaned her back on the couch too.

"Think of what makes you really angry, or we'll do it for you."

"We?" Cora chirped in.

"Yeah, you'll help me find their anchors." Cora let out a silent groan.

"Just help us." Erica stood up and I did too.

"Yeah, just help us get angry." I nodded.

"You two sure?" Cora asked and nodded. "Okay, then." She walked to me and slapped me straight on my left cheek.

"What the hell was that for?" I touched the spot where she slapped me.

She hit my right cheek with her fist and before I could speak again, she slapped me once more. I gasped when her knee flew to my stomach. I winced in pain, then she slapped me again. I got angry. Really angry. I felt myself transform. I attacked her, but she was too strong and she tackled me on the floor.

"Think of someone! Think of someone that makes you happy, or something!" She spoke rapidly. I didn't listen and tried to get out of her grip.

I pushed her and she flew in the air. She stood back up again, but I strangled her immediately. She easily got out of my grip and tackled me once more.

"Think of someone!" This time, I obeyed.

I thought of my mom. The things we do with each other, the things we-, nothing happened. I still fought with Cora. When I thought of my mom, I felt nothing, it just made me want to fight more, maybe it was the opposite. Cora tightened her grip on my wrists and I wiggled, but it was too tight.

"Ellie calm down!" I tried getting out of her grip and let out a growl. She didn't let go and I growled again. "Calm down!" She let out the loudest growl I've ever heard, which made me scared.

I felt myself being normal again. She let go and I breathe, I felt like I haven't done that for awhile.

"Have you ever thought of someone?" Cora asked me. I looked at her and nodded. "Who?"

"My mom." My breathing became normal again.

"She just made you even stronger."

"I know." I looked away and I saw her nodding.

I looked at Erica and Derek who were talking. I wonder if she found her anchor? Cora and I walked to the two.

"Have you found your anchor?" Erica smiled at me and nodded. "Who was it?" I smiled back.

"Mom." She simply said.

"Mom just made me even stronger." I mumbled.

"So, who's your anchor?" She raised her eyebrows.

"I haven't found mine yet." I shrugged.

"We'll try again next time. You may go home." Derek sat on the couch, followed by Cora. We nodded and left their house. Erica drove us back to our's, as usual.

I wonder who my anchor is...
