It was in high school when Louis first met Edward.

He'd transferred schools because they'd moved houses and this school was far closer than his previous one. The move was due to a football opportunity for Liam; the team that had offered him a place was one of the best in the world, and Liam had been quick to jump at the chance of joining.

Louis, however, wasn't overly excited about leaving everything behind, but he knew what this team meant to Liam and he wouldn't let his brother give it up because of him.

Socializing had never really been Louis' strong point, he'd always been the type of boy to wait for others to approach him first. He was friendly and bubbly enough, but stick him in front of an entire class of students, and his confidence would melt like ice cream on a summers day.

"I promise you, it'll be alright" Liam told him, rubbing Louis' back softly "No need to be so nervous, Lou" he soothed.

"Can't help it" Louis squeaked out, looking out Liam's car window at the overly packed school entrance.

Students of all ages were piling in and filling up the building. So many students.

"Want me to come inside with you?" Liam offered "We can find your first class"

Louis nodded slowly, finally looking back at Liam and offering the older boy a sad smile "Wish you were coming here with me" he mumbled.

"Me too, love" Liam replied quietly "Now, come on" he added, turning off the car engine and opening the door to get out.

"Liam, wait!" Louis exclaimed, reaching over to grab his brother's shoulder "I don't wanna"

"Louis, love, it'll be alright" Liam repeated "You can't be late on your first day"

"It's so busy" Louis whined, eyes going back to the school and scanning the entrance.

"Exactly" Liam replied "Nobody will even notice you"

Louis pouted slightly before climbing out of the car and following Liam to the entrance of the school, holding his older brothers hand tightly as he did so.

"What if someone laughs at me?" Louis whined.

"Nobody is going to laugh at you, silly" Liam promised "Why would they?"

"M'small" Louis replied "And gay" he added quietly.

"Don't have to tell anyone if you don't wanna" Liam stated "All in good time" he said, leading Louis to the office.

"What do I say?" Louis questioned, eyeing the receptionist nervously.

"Just ask for your timetable" Liam told him, nudging his brother forwards slightly.

Louis let out a soft whine, shying away into Liam's shoulder "You do it" he muttered, hiding his face in Liam's chest.

Liam rolled his eyes, sighing as he stepped towards the receptionist. He gave her an award winning smile as he spoke "Hey there, my brother's new and he needs a timetable, could we get one here please?" He asked kindly.

"Sure thing, hun" the lady replied "What name is it?"

"Louis Tomlinson" Liam answered when Louis didn't, giving his younger brother a disappointed look.

"Ah, I found it" she hummed, mostly to herself as she pulled Louis' timetable up on the computer "I'll fetch it from the printer" she added, standing up and walking over to the printer around the corner.

"That wasn't so hard, was it?" Liam questioned and Louis nodded.

"It was" the smaller boy replied.

Liam sighed at this, rubbing Louis' shoulder softly "Everyone's going to love you" he promised.

Louis nodded slowly, his eyes drifting to a tall student who was fetching a file from the office. He picked up the stack of papers and flicked through them aimlessly; after a couple of seconds, he looked up, his eyes catching Louis'.

Louis looked away quickly, blinking a couple of times as he pressed himself closer to Liam. The curly haired boy stepped forwards curiously, looking directly at Louis as he did so.

"Are you two new?" He questioned. His voice was deep and thick like honey.

Louis' breath caught in his throat as he noticed the boy's pretty green eyes.

"My brother's first day" Liam answered for the two of them "He's new"

"Hello, lovely" the boy greeted, sticking his hand out for Louis to shake.

Louis took the man's huge hand shyly, giving it a timid shake before pulling back "Hi" he squeaked out.

"What's your name, sweetheart?" He questioned, tilting his head slightly as he soaked up Louis' appearance with hungry eyes.

"Louis" the blue eyed boy answered quietly, looking down at the ground as he spoke.

"It's nice to meet you, Louis" he said softly, smiling at the boy and flashing his perfectly white teeth.

"You too" Louis replied, still shy.

The mystery boy gave him a final smile before picking out a specific paper and placing the rest on the office desk "See you around, I hope" he called before walking down the hallway and out of sight.

"See" Liam said, nudging Louis encouragingly "You've made a friend already" he stated, just as the office lady walked back with Louis' timetable in here hand.

"Here you go, hun" she proposed, holding the paper out for Liam to take.

"Thank you, love" Liam replied kindly, taking the paper from her hand and offering the woman an appreciative smile before leading Louis away.

"Where am I meant to go?" Louis questioned, eyeing the timetable in Liam's hands.

"Looks like you have English" Liam answered, showing Louis the timetable "Want me to help you find it?"

Louis nodded quickly "Please" he said.

"Maybe that curly haired lad with be in there" Liam stated with a shrug "He might help you around"

Louis hummed softly, smiling at the thought of the extremely handsome, yet intimidating student that he'd just met.

I know it was short but it's only the prologue!
