Chapter 41: His Reason

Akihiro's angered brows didn't relax at all as he massaged his tender jaw. "Do you know what the Embryo is?"

Kennsuke shook his head.

"It's a magical egg that can grant anyone's wish. Any wish in the world, and it will grant it."

At this, Kennsuke's eyes went wide. "So...this is all for...?" He stared back and forth at the room.

His uncle nodded, closing his eyes. "Yep, it's for my wife. Who else?" He took in a deep breath, letting it out in a shaky shudder.

"This is all for...Aunt Meiko?" Kennsuke uttered as his eyes went wide in realization.

His uncle nodded his head. "Yes. It is. Now don't get in my way anymore. I can't have some teenagers getting in the way of my dream of finding that Embryo."

Kennsuke took in a shaky breath, clenching his fists together. Although he had no clue what was going on around him, he still couldn't just let his uncle go on like this. He knew his friends were in trouble, and he could possibly be the only one to stop his uncle.

"Amu, look out!" Utau's voice shook her from her trance as she listened to Kennsuke's uncle. Out of reflex, she immediately whizzed higher in the air, barely missing multiple red streaks as the x-eggs shot their attacks at her. Looking below her at the sea of x-eggs, she gritted her teeth at the awful sight.

She needed to stop this. Now. All of these x-eggs -- everyone's hearts -- were definitely in pain. They were forced to become what they are, red and even more evil than just as x-eggs.

She had to do this. It was her last idea that would have to work. "Ran! Switch with Dia!"

Her pink haired guardian character responded with an affirmative grunt. "You got it, Amu-chan!" Ran exclaimed as Amu landed on a lamp post. The character transformation was undone and Amu watched as Dia and Ran high-fived, "switch!"

A warm, orange light surrounded her as she started character transforming with Dia. They both emerged as Amulet Dia, Amu immediately creasing her brows as she looked at the sight before her once again. In her hands, a bright orb of light emerged as she summoned her golden globe. "Twinkle hold!" She yelled as she held the globe high into the air.

A thin shield surrounded the whole area, including the old apartment building. Amu planned to use the move to hopefully calm the red x-eggs down and to at least keep them in place.

A bright shine exploded as the move took place. "Uwah! That's really bright, Amu-chi!!!" Yaya complained as her and everyone else inside of the building shielded their eyes from the bright light, Kennsuke included.

Amu opened her eyes to see the orange hued shield surrounding them. She looked around, the x-eggs seemed to be staying in place, and they haven't shot out red beams of attacks yet. Did that mean Twinkle Hold was working?

"No! X-eggs, destroy the barrier! Destroy those pesky teenagers!" Akihiro exclaimed as he clicked another button on his remote.

Amu gasped as the x-eggs started to move once again and started banging against the shield. The whole thing shattered not even a second later. "No!" She exclaimed as she shielded her head from the glass shatterings falling above her. It was so close.

"Uncle!" Kennsuke yelled as he stood in front of his uncle. "Do you really think that Auntie would want this from you?! To watch you become like....this and destroy my friends?!" He gestured to everything around him (mostly his friends).
