Hello once again to everyone and to those who saw the author's note I took down. Sorry for the really weird and serious author's note....but I was happy to see all of your replies and encouraging words.
So I've decided to finish this story with a new clearer writing style (hopefully) and maybe (I'm not really sure if I am, since there are other stories I want to work on) write another version afterwards with the same plot and everything, except it'll have a much faster pace. For this story I'm going to focus more on my writing once again and hopefully it'll turn out good!
Thank you everyone for putting up with me and I hope you enjoy this chapter!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Chapter 31~~
As the three-legged race came to an end, I noticed that a lot of people stood up to leave to probably do their own stuff. Knowing them, they probably just came to watch for Tadase. And since his event was over, they had no reason to stay any more.But we all sat where we were, waiting for the next event to start. We had really nothing else to do, other than mess around or practice for our event. But I'm pretty sure that none of us wanted to.
I took a nervous glance at my phone. The time read 8:52 AM. Great, just a little more than thirty more minutes until my event started at 9:30. In fact, I probably had even less time to watch the current event since I would need to leave early to get ready.
I felt my stomach clench, my insides squirming around inside. I was so nervous even though every year I always did the same old event. Volleyball. I myself didn't know why I did the same thing every year, it was just something I sort of built a connection with ever since sixth grade when I first played with Rima.
I felt a smile on my lips at the memory. I remembered seeing her sweating in pools afterwards, and even though she was panting hard, she still had a small, yet tired smile on her lips meaning that she had fun.
I glanced down at my best friend sitting beside me. Nudging her side, I playfully grinned, "remember during our sixth grade Sport's Festival and we forced you to play volleyball?"
I watched as Rima's expression slowly grimaced as the memory probably popped into her mind. To her, it was probably an awful moment. The sweltering sun, the sticky sweat and so on. And I don't think she'd want to relive it ever again, even if she did sort of had fun.
I heard as she let out a grunt from the back of her throat. She turned away, ignoring my comment to focus on the current event taking place. I laughed at her reaction before also focusing on the event. The runners were lined up at each starting line with the hurdles set up. I flinched when the man shot the pistol, causing a loud boom to explode through the air as the runners took off.
As I watched the time on my phone hit 9:05, I felt a sigh escape my lips as I stood up. My friends all sitting beside me noticed my sudden movement; they all started grinning towards me."Good luck, Amu-chi!!!!" Yaya exclaimed.
"We'll come watch you, Hinamori!"
I felt my checks flush in embarrassment and happiness. I was happy that they were going to watch and cheer me on, except they sometimes got a little too.....well, noisy.
I nodded towards them and forced out a strong smile. "Thanks, guys. Bye now." I waved and walked down the metal bleachers and to the ground towards the gymnasium.
