I looked around at the bedroom I would be staying in tonight. It was small with yellow floral wallpapers that reminded me of my Grandmother's house. I placed my bag in the corner and debated putting on pajamas when there was a knock at the door.
"Come in!" I called, straightening up the makeshift bed.
The door swung open and there stood Jake and Emma. They gave me wide smiles and sat either side of me.
"How are you feeling?" Emma said, gently. She stroked my hair which I thought was a bit weird but didn't mind.
"Confused." I confessed. My head had way too many thoughts going round. It was buzzing which questions which had no answers.
"Are you going to stay?" Jake asked. I smiled and shrugged.
"I don't know. I might stay another night or two." They nodded their heads and looked at me.
"Goodnight." Emma said.

A piercing light split through my curtains in the morning. I rubbed my eyes and got up. I had fallen asleep in my clothes and had messy hair. I combed my fingers through my hair and put on a basic yellow sundress.
I opened the door and walked out when I heard some murmuring from downstairs. Suddenly, Emma walked up the stairs and faced me.
"Oh, I was just coming to get you." She said and took my hand gracefully down the steps. We walked into a room which I identified as the dining room. I sat down in a chair next to Emma and Jake.
"Good morning, Hadley." Everyone cheerfully said. Except Enoch who called me Parks.
"How was your sleep?" Fiona asked. Everyone turned their heads and nodded excitedly.
"Great, thank you. How was yours?" I asked.
Fiona gave me a huge smile and rambled on about a dream which she was Irish and fell off a cliff and died. I got a little surprised at the end but we laughed together.
"Did you have any dreams, Horace?" Bronwyn asked the well-dressed boy next to her.
"Actually, I did. Everyone died in it and I got a new suit." Horace said, a little more gleefully at the last part. Everyone stayed quiet afterwards.
When everyone was done, they excused themselves and left the table. I stayed behind to talk to Miss Peregrine.
"Do you want me to help with the dishes?" I asked. Miss Peregrine smiled widely and nodded.
"If you don't mind but someone else should be doing it as well." And on cue, that someone walked in. That someone was Enoch. Again.
I followed Miss Peregrine into the kitchen and started scrubbing the plate. I placed the set plate onto drying rack next to me where Enoch picked them up, dried me and put them away.
"How are you liking your stat so far?" He asked. I was a little surprised by the question but nodded my head and started talking.
"It's been lovely, thank you." I replied. It was quiet but I felt eyes on me.
"Your strange, you know." Enoch said, then notice what he said. "I mean, we are all strange but you, you offered to do the dishes. Your polite."
I looked up at him confused. "What do you mean? Are the others not polite?"
"No, but they don't do things. Like, they take supper in the nude or skip a daily walk."
"I just learnt to offer help."
"Is that what it's like in the future? No war, no problems. Just peace?"
"No. There is a lot a war. There are multiple problems. Way too many, in fact."
"Well, at least you have manners."
I laughed at that then put my fingers into the water. I picked up water with my kinetics and splashed it at Enoch. "Would a polite person do that?"
Enoch flicked water at me then we started having a whole water fight. After, I removed the water from us and drained the sink.
"So, Enoch. What is your peculiarity?" I finally asked. I was never told.
"You really want to see?"
I nodded.
"Well, Parks. Come with me."
