"Where are you going to put all these flowers, Brendon?" Spencer laughed, leaning on Brendon's kitchen counter at his apartment.
"I don't know but one thing's for sure, I'm not letting die or be thrown away." Brendon said, gently placing the bundle of flowers in another water-filled vase.
"You know...where do you even get your flowers from? You should lay some down for Dallon, he'll love them. Sunflowers were his favorite."
Everyone knew now. Brendon had to come up with a story on how he found Dallon's grave and how he knew how he died as well. Dallon's friends and family held a funeral for him despite being late.
It was a saddening day for everyone who knew Dallon, they felt guilty for not knowing but Brendon felt terrible for his parents.Dallon's parents were the most effective to the death. They felt guilty for not knowing one of their children died and terrible for not having this sooner.
All Brendon could do was comfort and lie to them, he couldn't tell anyone that he talked and kissed (which is still unbelievable) Dallon from beyond the grave. Who would believe him? Nobody. Everyone would assume Brendon's gone mad after Dallon's death, which, they aren't wrong.
Since, recently, about a week after the event with Dallon, sunflowers appeared out of nowhere around Brendon. On his desk when he's working on music, his couch when he's watching a movie, literally anywhere at anytime.
It's been happening for a while and sometimes he swore that this could be Dallon's way of showing him he's still there for him.
Brendon really hoped it was because it would mean a lot. He wished he got some sign of sorts.
"I have no idea where the flowers come from, they just kinda appear, you know?" Brendon shrugged, setting the new case outside on his balcony.
"I actually don't know, Brendon. I have never had flowers appear out of nowhere happen to me!" Spencer joked.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever, but hey, they really make the place pop, right? They're so yellow and pretty and just fit right in." Brendon smiled at his home looking better than usual.
"Well, hey, bud, if you ever need me, you know where I am. I gotta go! See you!" Spencer called out as he exited through the door.
"See you, Spence!" Brendon smiled and waved.
He went to go to his room before something on his phone goes off.
A notification that alerted a message had been received.
Brendon tilted his head and wondered what it could be since he hasn't texted his friends today. Maybe someone just hadn't said "Hi." in a while.
That last statement wasn't completely wrong. He picked up his phone from the kitchen counter and read the sender's name.
"One new message from UNKNOWN NUMBER."
His brown eyes widen a bit, could it be...? No, no, no, he's moved on from being a ghost and texting him, it can't be him. Brendon guessed it was some girl who wanted to hook up but he was dead wrong.
"Flowers are a gift of life. They will come and go. Like people. Like me. However, love will live on. Even after death."
By the end of that message, Brendon realize there were tears on his cheeks and his phone no longer at his grasp.
He scrambled to text back to the number. Brendon needed him back and his messages were heartwarming and heartbreaking.
"I miss you so much."
"You never gave me a chance to say I love you to you."
"Are these sunflowers your doing, Dallon?"
"Please don't leave me."
"Even if you're dead and gone, please still love me."
"Because I still love you, Dal."
Under all these emotional messages read a text that caused Brendon to cry even more.
"Message failed to send."

And...that's a wrap! Thank you for all your support for this short and kinda terribly written story! Forgive me for ending this in a cliffhanger/open-ended way, it just sorta seemed to fit. This story shall be important in a way for me, maybe this could be a new leaf for me, who knows? Be sure to keep an eye out for a book called A PAIR MEANT FOR HELL and yes, I know it is up but I will unpublish that soon. I hope you'll stick with me through my adventures! I love you all! <3
