FUTURE Jessica POV
It was just a regular day at Muchamore College. I remember that in class Mr Zachary asked me a question about circumference and I couldn't answer. Maths was my least favourite subject, I mean why dwell on numbers when we speak words right?
PRESENT Jessica POV
Argh! I hate Mr Zachary! He went off at me for no particular reason. Just because I don't know something doesn't mean that he has to embarrass me in class. I just want to skip to performing arts which is in period 3. That is my ultimate favourite subject and my teacher, Mrs Johnson is the best. It's not like I have anything against Mr Zachary, I am a straight A student and always attentive in class but that one time, I dozed off.
I guess that maths just isn't my forte...
The bell rung right into my left ear. They should really turn the volume of those new electronic bells down! My face as red a tomato walked the walk shame as I approached my locker and put away my maths books sheepishly. Just then, a deep, coarse voice rose from the excited squeals that maths was over.
"Jessica, can I speak to you for a moment?"
I walked towards Mr Zachary with my head bow down. I didn't want to seem cocky when I made an error in class.
"Are you one hundred percent aware in my class?" He said grumpily but sympathetically. I wanted to say to him: Dude, you are a loser who picks on kids and embarrasses them. I wouldn't sound too confident if I were you! However, those words barely passed my mouth, well at all actually.
"Yes Mr Zachary, one hundred percent" I tried to say as enthusiastically as I could. "Well Jessica, it doesn't seem like it, what is going on in your life that you can't concentrate in class? My class in probably the most important subject and essential to learn. Without maths, you can't do anything, what if someone short changes you Jessica, what are you going to do?"
This lecture went on for about a ka jillion or so years. I am not going to describe the rest. Mr Zachary let me go and I walked towards my bag and grabbed out an apple. I sat on the faded, crippling green bench and nibbled on my apple like a loner. Well I was, my friend had broken her leg and was in hospital. Just then recess ended. I ran excitedly to performing arts and people looked at me like I was a freak. Well, freakier than usual.
FUTURE Jessica POV
Alright, so I was a loner geeky type of girl. I do not regret anything though, maybe just the people that got me into this mess. Anyway, I am going to skip to the end of the day. I might be murdered by this monster so I have to speed things up a little!
PRESENT Jessica POV
Aaah, the school day has finished and the nightmare will be over for 24 hours. Then it will start again! I walked to towards the science lab to wait to be picked up and to avoid the popular girls. Everyday after school I go to the science lab and conduct experiments to pass the time. You know, a common past time for nerds. Of course, I am not allowed to conduct these experiments but no one has found out so far so I guess the science teachers must be partying in the teachers lounge or something weird like that. Today I decided to mix hydrochloric acid and copper solution to see what happens. I wrote down my hypothesis ages ago, so everything is ready. Oh wait, lab coats and safety glasses... With my luck, the coats and glasses have been locked away. I guess I'll just do it without it. I am not about to pass this experiment. As I was handling the acid and solution, I spilt it on the floor. I dread to imagine if the floor were my skin. That would be awful!
FUTURE Jessica POV
Okay, so I seemed pretty stupid right? My personality is overconfident and I always have faith in myself to not mess things up but you've got to admit, we all make mistakes. Spoiler alert, I actually had acid and solution all over my hands and I rubbed my eyes not too long after the unknown incident.
