Chapter 6 - "Will You Go Out With Me?"

The next morning Yuu was woken by Shinoa. No surprise there then, I guess. He groaned loudly as he pulled himself up out of bed to go to the door.

"Hey Yuu~" she cooed, and the door was promptly slammed in her face. "That's no way to greet a woman in the morning, and I even left the 'chan' off the end to try and make it better this time!" she tutted as she opened the door herself. He groaned even louder as he sat down hard on the bed.

"The hell do you want...?" he asked grouchily.

"I want to talk about last night, if it wasn't stupidly obvious!"

"Nothing even happened last night!!"

"He carried you home, and might I say your bright red blushing face was adorable" she smirked evilly. Yuu stared at her incredulously. W-what?!

"Oh for... do you think he saw?" he asked quietly. She laughed "If he didn't then he must be blind! You were bright r-"

"YOU DON'T NEED TO RUB IT IN!!" Yuu shouted at the top of his lungs, waving his arms frantically. Shinoa sniggered a little.

"Well you better get to writing your confession soon Yuu-chan~"

"Ohhhhhh no, I'm not being forced into this" Yuu shook his head. "You better back off until I admit to him, okay?"

Just then, as luck would have it, Mika was heading up the stairs and was standing in the doorway as Yuu spoke. Shinoa had realised this, of course, but had failed to tell him (what a shame). Shinoa smiled smugly as Mika raised an eyebrow to Yuu. "Admit what, Yuu-chan?"

Yuu spluttered slightly and Shinoa let out a little laugh. He flashed her a death glare and she put both hands up and edged out of the room, winking at him before disappearing down the stairs. Yuu internally face-palmed.

"N-nothing Mika, don't worry" Yuu sighed.

"Oh... well... okay then." Inside, Mika was screaming 'Tell him! Tell him!! Tell him!!!'

"So... er.... What did you want to say?" Yuu asked.

"Breakfast is ready" he said before turning quickly and disappearing down the stairs, mentally hitting himself.

"Okay... then..." Yuu said to nothing.

– Later that day –

Yuu had decided to (begrudgingly) follow Shinoa's advice, and he went on a long walk to try and think of how he would confess to Mika. He stopped when he thought was far enough away, pictured Mika's face in his mind in all its beautiful glory, and attempted a confession.

"M-M-Mika... umm... w-will... will... you see... I... err..." he stopped for a few minutes before sitting down on the floor. "Stupid Mika... stupid beautiful Mika... making this so hard... ugh..." he muttered to himself as words flew through his mind.

Yoichi came round the corner and spotted Yuu. "Oh, Yuu-kun!" he said cheerfully.

"Oh, it's you" Yuu deadpanned. 'Can I not get any frickin' peace and quiet around here?!' he fumed internally.

"What're you up to?"

"Oh... it's nothing Yoichi..."

"Like hell it is" came another voice. Yuu glared at Kimizuki as he showed himself from behind a piece of broken wall. "I heard you attempting a confession, you loser."

"Loser?! If anyone's the loser here it's you for spying on me!"

Kimizuki glared at Yuu "Wanna take that back?"

"Like hell. Make me" Yuu fumed as he stood to fight.

"G-guys... this isn't a good idea..." Yoichi muttered as he tried to break the two up.

"If either one of you touches the other I swear..." came Mitsuba's voice as she too appeared from behind the wall.

"Does everyone know I'm here?!" Yuu shouted, frustrated.

"Well if you shout like that then I guess so" Mitsuba retorted. Yuu huffed and sat down hard on the floor.

"Is it true Yuu-kun?" Yoichi asked.

"Is what true?"

"That you were trying to come up with a confession?"

"Pftt... maybe... it's none of your business" Yuu huffed, turning away.

"Com'on Yoichi, let's leave this idiot to himself" Kimizuki said before walking off.

"Hey!! That was uncalled for!!" Yuu shot back as the pair left. He looked at Mitsuba "Aren't you gonna insult me and leave too?"

"Yuu you're so dense... look... a confession should just come naturally, you shouldn't practice it. When the time is right just tell him"

"Easy for you to say..." Yuu huffed again before standing and walking off.

"Ungrateful piece of..." Mitsuba sighed, and after watching him disappear she walked off in the opposite direction.

Yuu continued walking and thinking until he reached the highest standing building still in the town. He looked up and without thinking climbed up the stairs inside to the roof. He moved to the edge and sat down, his legs dangling over as he watched the sun start to set. 'This would be perfect...' He muttered.

If only...

There were footsteps behind him and he turned suddenly. There stood Mika. "M-Mika?" he stuttered.

Mika hummed a response and sat down next to him. Yuu glanced at him and Mika smiled. "It's a nice evening... a nice view... don't you think?"

'You're telling me...' Yuu thought. "Yeah... it's nice... I guess..."

"You've been acting off for a while Yuu-chan" Yuu smiled. It was just like Mika to be blunt.

"Have I?"

"Yes. Is it the humans? Did they do something to you? Did they drug you?"

"What?!"

Mika laughed a little, sending goose bumps down Yuu's spine. "I'm only joking"

"It's not like you to joke... you must be nervous..." Yuu observed, and Mika sighed.

"A little... I guess..." the blonde murmured. The sun was sinking further and further in the sky, sending orange and yellow hues in all directions over the ravaged town. It was pretty stunning.

'Now' thought Yuu.

"To be honest... I'm a little nervous too..." Yuu said. Mika was suddenly watching him intently, and Yuu gulped silently. 'Here goes nothing'

"You see... I've... I've been having these feelings Mika... every time I see you my pulse starts racing and I go all sweaty and... well... Mika...

I love you

I've loved you for so so long now and I can't stop loving you and all the others know and they're driving me mad over it and I can't hide it anymore and I feel like-"

"Breathe Yuu-chan"

"Y-yes... you see... I just love you so much" Yuu then went one step further and took Mika's hands in his own. Just as the sun finally set in a blaze of red, Yuu looked into Mika's eyes as his own started watering.

"W-will you go out with me?"
