We stopped on a private funeral area.
“Let’s go!” he said and hopped out of the car.
I followed him all the way to a small cubicle.
He bowed to a picture of a very beautiful woman.
Was she Cyrus’ older sister?
“Ma, it’s been a long time, huh? I’m sorry for not visiting more often.” He explained.
“Ma?” I repeated.
Was she his mother?
He looks at me with a smile and slowly pushed me forward.
“Please give her the flowers.” He told me.
I did what he said still shocked.
Her mom was so young. She was so beautiful!
I went back to Cyrus’ side and took off my cap to show respect.
“She’s Amber, Ma.” He introduced me.
I looked at him still shocked.
Why is he introducing me?
“She’s the one I’ve been telling you. Isn’t she pretty?” he added.
“Cyrus…” I mumbled.
“Ma, I want you to meet my girl.” He said which made my tears flow.
He looks at me and smiles. He slowly wipes off my tears with his bare hands.
“Why are you crying? You must look on your best when you’re facing your mother-in-law. “ he kiddingly said.
I, on the other hand, smirked and came into his arms.
***
“Why did you cry?” he asked as we drive out of the funeral.
“Actually, it is my first time to be introduced in a big family.” I said as I keep my eyes on the road.
“You are the first to introduce me FORMALLY…” I paused and grinned.
“I know that we’re just pretending to be lovers but… I really love the warmth that your family is giving me. And so, I want to thank you for that.” I concluded.
He parked the car and looked at me.
“Why?” I asked curious.
“After the graduation, would you like to come with me?” he asked.
“Where?”
“I’m leaving for America. I’ll be taking a four-year course in college there.” He said seriously.
What?
He’s leaving?
He’s leaving me?
I don’t know what to do nor to say.
All that I can do is to look at him shocked.
He held me slowly.
“Come with me. Let’s know each other better; let’s start a new life together. Who knows if we can be together forever, right? Let’s see if things will work out on us.” He further said.
My tears cloud my eyes so I looked away and hopped out of the car.
What to do now?
I don’t want him to leave.
