Jessica's POV

It's Monday, August 28th 2017.

It's currently 9:30 am. It's been about 17 hours since everything happened.

Justin's oxygen mask is off which is a good thing. His breathing has improved but now he has those breathing tubes in his nose.

It's definitely a lot better seeing him like this than with the mask on.

I didn't sleep the greatest last night since I slept on a bench in his room. At least it's one of those padded benches.

"Hi sweetie. Get any sleep last night?" Pattie says walking in handing me a coffee.

"Not really. I couldn't get comfortable and my mind wouldn't really let me. I can't stop thinking about him" I say looking over at Justin. "I really hope he wakes up today. I miss his voice. I miss his smile. I just miss him."

"I know, honey. I miss him too. But I can't imagine how hard this is for you. I mean, you were there when it happened. Seeing these things happen, just makes it so much worse."

"I know. And it all just keeps replaying in my mind and I hate it."

"Hey Jess, someone's here to see you." Scooter says popping his head through the door.

Suddenly I see Derek and my mom walk through the door.

"Mom! Derek! Oh my god I'm so glad you're here!" I say pulling them into a group hug.

"Of course, hun. We can't imagine what you're going through." my mom says.

"Oh, Mom, Derek, this is Justin's mom, Pattie. Pattie, this is my mom Annie and my brother Derek."

"Nice to meet you both." Pattie says.

Our moms go off to the side to chat so Derek & I can talk.

"So since I know you'll be here for a few days or more, I brought you a little care package type thing." Derek says handing me a cute little tote bag with different things in it. "There's a Starbucks gift card to buy you all the coffee you'll need, a journal to write your thoughts along with some pretty gel pens, some snacks and candy, a crossword book, and a couple new romance novels to help you pass the time."

"Aw Derek, this is so sweet. Thank you." I say giving him a hug.

"How are you doing right now?" he asks.

"I'm okay right now. Sometimes I'll have my moments where I can't stop crying, but right now I'm okay."

"Any idea when he'll wake up?"

"No idea. Doctor says it shouldn't be much longer. But he is recovering well so far. His breathing is a lot better."

"That's good. Have you eaten anything today?"

"No, not yet. I haven't had much of an appetite."

"C'mon, let's go to the cafeteria to get some breakfast."

"I'm good."

"Jess.." he gives me that "you know I'm right" look.

"Okay fine. Mom, stay in here with Justin? Derek and I are going to get food."

"Of course. Pattie and I will just be here chatting."
