*Vanessa's P.O.V*

Today was going to be a day I've forever struggled with since his passing, and waking up with a massive headache was not a good start.

Jumping out of the shower and wrapping a towel around me, I headed into my bedroom to dry off, staring at the still made side of my bed. Dylan didn't come home lastnight, ofcourse. A tiny bit of rage filled a part inside of me that soon subsided when I heard a knock at the door. "Yeah?"

"It's just me hon, you alright?" I dried my hair quickly with the towel then headed back towards the bathroom.

"Mhmm, just getting changed." The sound of feet shuffled away from my door and I sighed, turning to face the mirror. I stared at myself, looking at each bit of skin. My fingertips traced the tattoo that climbed up the side of my body, leaving goosebumps but a saddened ache in my chest. To know that the tattoo covered my self inflicted pain in my teenage years, made me almost miss the rush. Closing my eyes and taking a sturdy deep breath, I reminded myself that there's a reason why I got it in the first place. To not only cover the deep purple scars, but that the roses represent a new start; that I didn't want to do that anymore, and that the thornes show the bumps along the way to recovery; that things will set me back, but I will pull through. My fingers wandered to the other side of my body, where Pierce the Veil lyrics were written; also showing the struggle I went through in my teenage years.

Walking back into my room after a mini emotional episode, I got changed into some black skinnies and a wollen grey jumper, fitting for how sluggish I felt. I made my way out my room and into the kitchen to find my father sitting at the table with the paper and coffee, whilst my mother stood on the deck having a ciggarette. "Morning sweetheart, how you feeling?" I shrugged, opening the fridge to grab the milk and thought over how I should answer my dad.

"What should be expected to be felt today." A sigh left my fathers mouth and I pursed my lips with my back turned to him noting that I'm not the only one having a hard time with this so I changed my tone.

"What about you dad? Sleep well?" I turned around to pour myself a drink and he sighed, slowly getting up from his seat.

"No, not really. But then again, when do I ever sleep well away from home?" I nodded, knowing my father never lasts this long away from home - from his own bed.

"Well in a few days you'll be back in Canada, back to your own bed and you won't have to worry anymore." I said with a chuckle. My mother came in just then after I managed to crack a smile on dad's face and she smiled at us both. "Good to see some smiles this morning, how was your sleep?" I shrugged, stirring my juice.

"Was fine I guess. No Dylan this morning though." I looked up at my mother who soon glanced at my father.

"I thought he came home lastnight? I passed him on the way out after you went to bed?" I raised an eyebrow at her then took a sip.

"Nope, bed was still made."

"Well-" A knock came from the door, startling us all and interrupting my mother.

"I'll get it." I placed my glass down and headed to the door, scratching my head. "Sophia!" She stood there, a big boquet of flowers on her hand whilst the other held a bag with a bow on it, I'm guessing it contained alcohol.

"Hey guys, sorry to come unannounced. I just thought it'd be nice to y'know, tag along today?" I smiled at her, nodding as she made her way inside.

"Well ofcouse hon, you're like family to us! You knew him aswell." My mother made her way towards Sophia and collected the gifts before placing them down on the coffee table and giving her a welcoming hug, whilst I pulled up my sleeve and checked the time.
