*Vanessa's P.O.V*

I yawned and stretched as the sun shone through the curtains. Today my parents were leaving for their home, and tomorrow Mike will be leaving for tour. At this moment, I felt deflated. A knock at the door startled me from my thoughts as my mother peered in. "Want to go out and get some brunch?" She whispered. I sat up and looked over at Dylan who was still sleeping, his bare back facing me.

"Yeah sure, just give me a sec." She nodded then closed the door as I slipped out of bed and proceeded towards the bathroom. After Dylan's little tantrum lastnight, he eventually came back in and apologised. Saying that we should just take things slow, and that he knows things aren't okay and we've got to build on that.

A part of me has a feeling he's acting so good because he knows Mike's going away soon, and that he has 'won'. I closed my eyes and shook my head, hating his cockiness. With that thought in my head, I decided I should have a body shower and hurry up before my mother gets impatient.

We walked into a small bistro just down the waterfront and chose a booth at the back, overlooking the water. "So miss," My mother started as she sat down and placed her bag on the floor. "What's been going on with you?" I looked at her with a 'are-you-serious' look and she gave me a smug look back. "C'mon!" She urged with her hands. "What's going on!" I groaned, folding my arms and leaned against the table.

"There's nothing." I said, giving her a short smile. She rolled her eyes at me and shook her head.

"Gosh I swear you're just like your father, so stubborn!"

"He says the same thing about you!" My mother soon raised her eyebrows at me and cocked her head back.

"Oh is that just about right? Might have to have a talk to him too." I laughed, shaking my head as I looked down. "But seriously darling, what's been going on? What's happening with this ah, Mike kid?" I shrugged and tapped my fingers on the table.

"Nothing, he leaves tomorrow." I looked up and pursed my lips, whilst she dropped her shoulders with a big sigh.

"Is that it? No goodbye?" I nodded, raising my eyebrows as I looked down at the salt & pepper infront of me.

A few quiet minutes passed until my mother slammed her hand on the table with a sigh, making me jump in my seat. "You're not going to let this go," I looked up at her and raised an eyebrow. "You're going to go insane if you don't act upon it. Look," She reached over and laced her fingers with mine. "I can see things between you and Dylan aren't the same as they were before we last saw you two. After seeing the way you reacted at him after he fought with Mike, it made me think you two weren't meant to be together forever after all." I scoffed at the thought of us being together forever. Oh the joy that would come. "I honestly thought he was the one for you, but your eyes don't light up the same way they use to when he was in the room or if his name was to be mentioned. Instead the same sparkle seems to appear whenever you mention Mike, or talk about him." I looked down at my lap now, biting my lip and feeling as if a weight was being placed on my shoulders.

"But mom it's hard to act upon my feelings for Mike when he's leaving. What's the point in holding on when I'll only end up missing him just as much as I do when I don't have him?" One of her hands left mine and she cupped my face, urging me to look up at her.

"That's why you've got to do something. Follow your heart, and whatever it's teling you to do." I sighed, impatient at myself.

"My heart's telling me to go after him tomorrow, and tell him how much I love him."

Well shit, did I really just admit that aloud?

"Then that's what you've gotta do, before it's too late." I looked out the window and let those words sink in. How would I do that? How could I do that? Would it truly be worth it? I'm anxious to do so incase this really was just a fling for him, and I've fallen too fast.
