Tension was building. You could practically feel it in the air. The crowd chattered, wondering who would win the first match of the quarterfinals, when the announcer spoke: "And here come the fighters now!" The crowd quickly fell silent as footsteps echoed through the air. Tien walked out onto the stage, but Yamcha was nowhere to be found. Tien laughed. "I guess he turned chicken after all-" Suddenly, Yamcha appeared, leaping over the stands and doing an aerial cartwheel over the crowd. He landed in the arena and looked up at Tien. "Nobody calls me chicken."

Tien folded his arms and grinned. "Heh. Well, look who decided to show up for his own beat-down." Yamcha took a fighting stance and smirked confidently. "You're right about one thing, at least: this is a beat-down. But I'm not the one who's gonna lose." Tien snorted and took his own fighting stance. "I'll blow you away in an instant!" Yamcha quickly changed his own fighting stance, which he had perfected over the last 3 years. "Ha! Just try and keep up, Tien!"

Tien grimaced, eyeing Yamcha up and down. His fighting stance is nearly flawless! Yamcha suddenly began to throw punches and kicks at a rapid pace, then eventually glanced at Tien. "Would you look at me? I'm setting records here." Tien smiled confidently. "Just you wait." "Oh, I'm all done waiting." Tien's eyes widened. "Huh?" Yamcha launched forward, then threw a kick, which Tien managed to block. Tien tried to counterattack with a low punch to Yamcha's stomach, but Yamcha rolled out of the way in midair and then landed on the ground. Tien tried to hit him with a finger gun punch, but Yamcha quickly ducked. He dodged a few more finger gun punches, then took a swing at Tien's face. "Take this!" To his surprise, he nailed Tien in the cheek, but Tien quickly kept the momentum going, spinning and then attempting a roundhouse kick. Yamcha's eyes narrowed as Tien's leg swung towards him.

Yamcha watched Tien's leg swing towards him, and time seemed to slow down. Yamcha smirked. Time to switch things up a little! Instead of jumping into the air to avoid the kick, Yamcha leaned back and Tien's foot passed over his nose. Then, Yamcha gave a shout and quickly kneed Tien in the jaw, then catapulted himself away by launching off of Tien's chest using his other foot. Yamcha did several more backflips to gain distance. He landed on his feet and looked up. Tien rushed at him and slid on the ground, but quickly stood and jumped over Yamcha- but this time, Yamcha expected it, and he whirled around and jumped, roundhouse kicking Tien in the ribs. Tien quickly spun in midair, regaining his balance and doing a backflip to land on his feet. Yamcha landed on the fighting stage as well, and he suddenly had an idea: Hey, I know how Tien fought during this time period. I can use that to my advantage!

Yamcha took a step forward, then leaped into the air, in an arc towards Tien. Suddenly, he curled up into a ball and fell right in front of a surprised Tien. Yamcha stood up straight and threw a punch, which Tien barely managed to catch. Yamcha threw several more punches, and with each attack he increased his speed. Blocking the punches became harder and harder for Tien, until eventually he yelled in frustration and jumped back.

"Alright, hotshot, let's see you take me when I'm like this!" Tien declared. Yamcha took a fighting stance, his expression determined. "Whatever you've got, I've seen worse. I'm ready when you are." Tien grinned, but it quickly turned into a grimace. He tensed up, gritting his teeth and straining his entire body. Suddenly, his veins began to bulge, and his body began to glow with a brilliant light. Yamcha faltered in his stance. "Huh?" Tien's jaw clenched even harder, and he began to growl with effort. Suddenly, two arms jutted out from his back, directly under his shoulder blades. The arms grew hands, and Tien gave a final cry. Then, he looked towards Yamcha and folded his two original arms. "You're as good as dead now!" Yamcha smirked. "Oh, it's that move." Tien blinked in surprise. "What?" Yamcha's smirk turned into a grin, and he stood normally. "Heh heh... I know about this attack! The Four Witches technique. You grow two new arms out of your back, giving your physical strikes twice their intensity. And I also know the weakness of that move."

Yamcha rushed forward towards a shocked Tien and swung directly at his legs, but Tien snapped back to the present in time to block Yamcha's attacks. He proceeded to beat up Yamcha twice as hard, and finished his assault with an uppercut. But despite being punched into the air so hard he was sent flipping, Yamcha grinned. That's it! He broke off the flip he was in the middle of and looked down at Tien. "Hey, triclops! You gonna come up here and fight me, or are you scared?" Tien clenched his teeth and charged upwards, but the second he reached Yamcha, Yamcha dodged in midair and fell back to the ground. Tien followed him back down, but once Tien hit the stage, he realized that he had landed on his legs. Pain shot up his legs in an instant, and his extra pair of arms disappeared. Tien clenched his teeth. "Well played." Yamcha grinned confidently once again. "Here's where the fun begins."

He attempted to rush Tien, but right before he threw a punch he suddenly froze. "W-what the-" he exclaimed. Tien was just as surprised, but he began pummeling Yamcha, eventually crossing him in the face and sending him flying backwards. Yamcha stood up and as Tien attacked him, he began raising his arms to block- and froze again. Yamcha looked down at his arms as he struggled against the paralysis. "What's happening?!" he wondered aloud. Tien kicked him in the face. Yamcha began to get up, but he froze a third time. Now Tien was confused. He suddenly realized why Yamcha was freezing up: "Chiaotzu! Stop that!" he shouted, looking over at the stands towards his best friend. Chiaotzu nodded and lowered his fingers, and when Master Shen, Tien and Chiaotzu's teacher, ordered Chiaotzu to attack his best friend, Chiaotzu outright refused: "I'll never hurt Tien!" Master Shen prepared to kill Chiaotzu, but he was suddenly blasted away to who-knows-where by a Kamehameha from Master Roshi. Tien looked at Yamcha. "Er... sorry about that. I didn't know." Yamcha shook his head and got to his feet. "Don't worry about it. We're not finished fighting yet!"
