"what?" i said.

"i'll adopt her." alex spoke up.

"sir, are you sure about this?" the man asked.

"100% sure." he replied. the man ushered alex towards him. as alex walked past me, i gave him a huge hug.

"thank you so much." i said.

"family of alissa and ricky banks?" the doctor called out. it's really happening right now.

i gripped grayson's hand, and he gave it a tight squeeze. i gave him a weak smile, and we walked back together. they opened the door to my parent's hospital room, and they were still unconscious.

"go ahead and say your goodbyes." the doctor said.

i sat in the middle of their two bed, and held one of each of their hands.

"i never thought this day would come so soon. but i can't be negative about this, so i want to thank you guys for everything. you've shaped me into a much better person, and i don't understand why such bad things happen to such good people. i want to thank you for helping me meet my two best friends, ethan and grayson. who would've thought i would be dating the person i could only dream about? i want to thank you for giving me the dream life. you made my life so much better, and so much happier. i truly love the people you surronded me with. i made so many true friends since you guys brought me in, and i could never be more grateful. i love you guys so much, and this is the hardest thing i've ever had to do. but i can't let you guys suffer any longer. i love you mom and dad." by the end of saying this, i was crying, and so was grayson.

"i'm pulling the plug in 3, 2, 1." and the doctor unplugged the machines that were keeping them alive. their heart rate was slowly going down, until they both flatlined. i fell to the floor, sobbing. grayson took me into his arms and rocked me.

"i'm here, i'm here." he repeated.

"i want to go home, i can't see them like this." i said. he picked me up and carried me to the car. alex, rice, frazier, ethan, and rug drove home with us while nikan left to go back to the airport. the car was dead silent. when i got home, i went to my parent's room. i looked around at everything, taking in that this wasn't theirs anymore.
