Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light.

Ash's POV
"Serena get up!" I yell right next to her ear. She jumps up so quickly it's hilarious. "Time for School Serena!" I yell ad run out of her room before she can write anything down. I feel bad she can't talk, but she can't say anything back before I can run away from her."What were you just doing Ash?" My mom says with her hands on her hips. "Um nothing! Now where's breakfast?" I ask and she sighs. "On the table like always mister." She says walking back into the kitchen. I sit down and start eating quickly, as I eat Serena comes out of her room. I can hear her footsteps. She's light on her feet unless she's tired.
She taps my shoulder and I look towards her. In less then a second a sharp pain goes across my cheek. "Did you just slap me?!" I shout angrily and Serena just has an innocent smile plastered on her face. You deserved it. She writes then walks towards the kitchen. I hear a laugh and I look over to see my mom laughing softly.
I roll my eyes and keep eating. "Don't wake her up like that honey." She says still laughing. "Yeah yeah." I respond rolling my eyes again. "Why don't you just go to your bus? I'm sure your friends will be surprised to see you so early. I'll drive Serena." My Mom says with her soft smile.
"Alright" I respond standing up and grabbing my bag. Before I head out the door, I can hear Serena walking behind me. "Serena my mom will drive you if you need to get ready." I say opening the door but she walks outside in front of me. I'm good. She quickly writes and walks towards the driveway.
"Serena is coming with me Mom." I say and I can see my moms hand waving from the kitchen. I close the door and follow After Serena. She's looking up at the overcast sky and I can barely see a smile on her face but I know it's there. She is happy. I just don't know why.
As we approach the bus stop Serena sits on the bench next to th other girls. Somehow it can fit four people on it. It looks a little small. I walk over to Gary, Ian, and the new guy. I forgot his name, but I've never talked to the guy so really, was I supposed to know his name? "Hey Ash!"
"Hey guys what's up?" I ask "Nothing much. You know it's been a week and you haven't even talked to Calem yet?" Gary asks grinning. "Yeah I do." I tell him rolling my eyes. So that's his name. Calem nods his head and smiles.
Soon the bus arrives and Calem hurries on like he's trying to hide. It's really strange and weird. Serena stands up and her eyes lock with mine. All I see are her brilliant blue eyes. She quickly looks away and hurries onto the bus. I stand for a few seconds in that one spot before I get onto the bus after her.
On the bus, Serena sits with Dawn in front of the seat I'm sitting in. The two seem to be literally best friends. As we sit on the bus and head to school, I can't stop thinking about her brilliant blue eyes. "She's actually pretty cute.." I whisper hoping she doesn't hear.
Serena's POV
The bus is going and I'm looking out the window talking to Dawn, well writing. I hear Ash whisper something but the only thing I hear I the word "cute." I wonder what he could be talking about. I turn my head to look at Ash. He looks somewhat panicked. What's cute? I ask him and he sighs. "I saw a puppy outside playing with some kids." He answers and I nod."Did you see a puppy?" Dawn wonders looking at me and I shake my head. Not a single one. Well I'm not the only one who didn't see one. And I was looking out the window most of the time. Was he hiding something? I really hope he isn't.
After we arrive to school I step off the bus after Dawn and stretch. "Cmon we gotta go to class missy." Dawn says grabbing my hand and pulling me forward. This is what is the worst about not being able to talk. I can't always say to slow down or to stop and I can't always say something back. An example of that was this morning when Ash woke me up.
Dawn walks me to class and we sit down at our desks. Delia had told Ash he has to sit next to me in every class we have together. I've tried telling her that Dawn always sits next to me, but today she finally listened and now Ash can sit with his friends and not have to bother with me.
I see Ash sit with Gary as class starts but the teacher hasn't come in when the bell rings. I catch myself just staring at Ash thinking of his eyes. I don't know what it is but when I locked eyes with him this morning I was captured by them. I don't even know if that's possible. I don't think it's possible to be captured by someone's eyes.
I sigh, or try to sigh. They had to take everything but my breathing when it comes to what I can do with my lungs. All I can do is breath. I can't sigh, talk or anything. It's absolutely horrible. Dawn notices my attempt at a sigh and she taps my shoulder. It brings me out of my trance on Ash's eyes.
"You alright Serena?" Dawn asks and I nod my head with a fake smile. Of course I am. "Alright" she replies as the teacher come in. Sometimes I don't know how my fake smiles work. I guess they look really close to my actual smiles. I don't know. Eventually they will be able to catch it.

Chapter 5 is this! I hope you enjoyed. Sorry it took so long. I've been trying to get chapter 4 changed to what I needed it to be, which I've finally done by the way, and I got caught up with writing my other story. Oh and I'll be writing Be Mine again after this book.
