I've lived in this house my whole life. Mom says she brought Bri and I home here. I sprained my wrist after falling down the stairs when I was eight. Bridget painted the walls in the kitchen whilst me making breakfast. I remember Mom and dad bringing Seth home vaguely. Most of all this is where mom told all her stories.
She used to tell us how she moved in with Dad's family. How she del in love with our uncle first and then finally for dad. How she almost died in a car crash and lost her memory. She told us that she went to college and met her life long best friends, Aunt Margo Aunt Amber and Aunt Stacy. She told us that her and Aunt Margo were convicted of a murder and got away clean since some girl they went to high school with did it. How she reacted when she found put she was having us. Her wedding. It felt like we were there with her.
Now we have to leave this house and all the memories that came with it and I'm just not ready for that.
"Hey Baylee, can you curl my hair?" Kelsey asks as I'm packing up my room.
"I'm busy Kenzie its going too have to wait." I tell her carefully placing a picture of Bri and I into a box.
"Baylee please." She whines.
"I said no Mackenzie!" I yell. "I'm case you haven't notice were moving tomorrow." I say drawing put my words.
"Chill." She says holding her hands up.
"Just go Kenzie." I say turning away from her signaling this conversation is over.
"I hope you know were all upset about leaving Bay. Even mom. We have to though so suck it up." She says and walks away.
Kenzie has always been her own person and spoke her mind whenever she pleases. She gets that from mom but I've never seen her so pissed off before. She hasn't lived her as long as most of us and she's more upset than ever.
"Hey girly." Mom says leaning her head in the doorway, her chopped dirty blonde falling to one side. She has a faint smile on her lips, her eyes crinkling at the corners.
"Hey mama." I mumble putting my jolly ranchers away. Yes, I have a problem with them and so does my mom. I guess genetic.
"Throw me one of those." She says walking in.
I pick out a blue one, her favorite, and toss it to her. She catches it with one hand and opens it. She pops it in her mouth and closes her eyes for a second before looking back at me.
"So how are you?" She asks.
I shrug taking a picture of her and I down and placing it inside a box on top of the picture of Bri and I.
"I'm sorry." She says.
I look at her, my eyebrows knitted together and !y nose scrunched up. "Why?"
She sighs and slightly shakes her head. "I'm dragging you away from the only home all of you have ever known. All the best things happened here."
"Its fine" I mutter.
She looks shocked. "It is?"
I nod. "I mean I was going to college in two years anyways and would have to leave. Its like...getting a head start."
"I so sorry honey." She says and hugs me.
I inhale her typical scent. Lavender and vanilla.
"I love you." She says.
"I love you too."
***
"Its warmer here." Seth says staring at a huge brick mansion in front of all us.
