I fell backwards with an even worse pain searing through my forehead. I slowly got up and tried to concentrate on the sidewalk as to not crash. But when I glanced up, I realized I was next to the tallest building in the city. I looked at the automatic glass doors in the front and saw a sign above them that read, "The Mental and Technological Advancement Institute". I guess something in y head clicked after about then seconds because I finally realized that the vaccines came from here. The same vaccine that gave me this splitting headache. After hesitating for a few seconds, I walked toward the doors.
The air was way cooler inside the building. The floor and walls were covered with slightly reflective marble and there was at least a window every four or five feet along the walls. People in suits were rushing around everywhere muttering or chatting to each other, each person holding a gray folder. I walked over to the front desk and took a pamphlet. The man at the desk look up from what appeared to be a report he was writing and acknowledged me with a warm smile. "Hello, how may I help you?" At first I thought that he sounded like he had worked at Mcdonalds for a few years before he came here. But I nervously answered, "Uhm... I have a paper I have to write for my English class and I have to study a business group in the city." It was a bad lie, but I think he bought it. "Okay, let me get you a tour guide around the place." He picked up his phone and dialed a pone number, a co-worker's I guess- and said, "Yes this is Ben. I would like a tour guide for a young man at the lobby." He hung up and then said, "A friend of mine- call him Mr. Pond- will take you around the various rooms." Ben looked back down at his paper and was about to start writing when I blurted out, "What do you guys do here, with all the folders and stuff?" Ben looked up at me, looked straight up into my eyes, and said with the most serious tone ever, "Science."
