Monstrous Nightmare

Monstrous Nightmares are rather independent and are quick to separate from the rest of their litter and assert their independence within minutes of their birth. Even as babies they are skilled hunters and adaptive survivors, making them some of the toughest dragon breeds out there. Nightmares grow up to be some of the most devoted and protective dragon breeds. They have a strange way of showing it sometimes. 

The Monstrous Nightmare eggs have a surface that looks like they were made of cloth or leather folded together, with a spotted pattern on the base. Its colors vary and they match the colors of the dragon to be born. 

They are best known for setting themselves aflame as a means of protection or intimidation. Their bodies are covered in and naturally produce a gel that is mainly kerosene. Their fire is also mainly kerosene which can be hotter than a usual flame and more powerful as well.

The average Nightmare weighs about 5,000 lbs and with an average wingspan of 68 feet. Its diet consists of fish, rats, and corn. They are able to send heavy humans a long distance by using their tail and can send a Gronckle flying full speed with an extra heavy weight human riding on them by hitting with their wings.  

Nightmares are quite fast on land, water, and air. Due to their size, they have trouble turning on land but when running in a straight line they can be quite quick. They are agile and fast fliers and have also been observed to be fast and agile swimmers. Monstrous Nightmares are excellent climbers on chains and many different types of terrain shown to be able to climb mountains and catapult towers. As well as climb against stone and metal walls while running quickly. 

Monstrous Nightmares have shown to have very intelligent if wanted such as if they get the good respect that they deserve from their owners, they can learn great skills over a day. However, they expect a level of respect back or else suffer the consequences. 

They have a hidden ability that is known as a Wing Blast. They use their large, powerful wings to create a blast of wind that is so strong, that it can even blow a fully-grown Hideous Zippleback to the ground.

Monstrous Nightmares can open their jaws wide enough to swallow a full-grown man whole. Their jaws are full of long, sharp teeth or fangs.

Their long two-finger curved claws on both wings have also been to be used as weapons that have shown to be quite powerful, they even have sharp long curved talons. They have been observed to use their tail as a club. They have long sharp spines covering their back. Their horns can be used against other Monstrous Nightmares like male bucks will use against each other. 

Like most Stoker class dragons, Nightmares are capable of losing their flame as well as their fire burst from hypothermia that could make this dragon become very weak and they can easily die from this. They can lose their Fire Burst from old age, exhaustion, or injuries. This includes flaky skin, pale coloration, and the inability to light up. They can lose their altitudes showing off difficulties as they can fly slower. 

Their other weakness is tying up their snout so that they won't be able to use their Fire Burst but they are able to still fight back. 

If the horns of a Monstrous Nightmare are pressed to the ground, the dragon will instantly calm down, like the feeling of the cool dirt against its head. 

Titan Monstrous Nightmares find it difficult to maneuver as quickly due to their size being much larger than the average Nightmare.
