Hazel entered the tent to see Amber carefully examining a piece of paper.
"Wow. I would only be studying that hard if I was to appear for an exam." said Hazel.
"That's great." Amber murmured without looking up.
"What are you looking at ?" asked Hazel, taking a seat next to her. There was no reply.
"Amber!"
"Hazel ! When did you come inside?"asked Amber, completely startled.
"Great!" Hazel sighed.
"That I am." Amber said, with a bright smile on her face.
Hazel shook her head.
"So, you broke up with the Huntsman?"asked Hazel, deciding to come to the purpose of her conversation.
"Umm hmm."
"Why? I thought you guys were faring well."
"For a while, so did I." said Amber.
"So you aren't going to try to..."
" No. That chapter has come to an end. Right now, I have more important matters to deal with."
Hazel's gaze fell on the parchment in Amber's hands.
There were pieces of land and symbols demarcating each area. A map.
"Why would you need a map ?"said Hazel, "Unless you plan to travel to someplace ..."
Amber nodded.
"Where?"
"Where it all began." Amber said, determinedly.
"Wait. You better tell me it isn't where I think it is." said Hazel.
"I am going to the Lair of the Faeries."
"What! No way, Am. It's too dangerous. You know what the faeries are."
" Remember Hazel that I am a faerie too." Amber said, raising an eyebrow.
"Am, this isn't stereotype talking. I've read tales about them. They do not care about their own kin. You, yourself have told me that they have no respect or concern for a changeling. Not only are they manipulative and shrewd but also they have magic ! Black magic, far dangerous than what we have ever seen."
"But Hazel, I have to do this! I have always known that this is something that needs to be done. Think of it as one of my goals, the purpose of my life. I need to confront my birth mother."
"But why? She never cared for you. Why should you ?"
"Trust me, Hazel, even if I did, that wouldn't be the reason I would go searching for her. I feel that she owes me, that they all owe me for making my life so miserable." said Amber, her anger subtly visible in her eyes.
