"No way out?" Bexley sat on the kitchen chair, hunched over the paper map.
Aidyn's eyes stared blankly at it as well, Miles encouraged him,
" Can you think of anything? You know all the bike trails."
He snapped out of his daze, " N- no, I'm sorry."
Tyrell's meaty fingers poked and prodded at a paper hiking map they'd found. He drew lines where the military had blocked off. Miles expected him to use the day to recover from his fathers disappearance, but Tyrell was a different breed. Ben sat in between Erik and Aidyn, back to his normal attire. He'd discarded the wig and Hollister shirt, trading it for a torn sweater. To kill the time, he peeled off his fake nails.
"What did you say again Miles, they're facing the wrong way?" Tyrell spoke above the dull chatter in the room.
Miles' face flushed,
" Uh-- Sort of. They're facing out toward the highway, like they're keeping something out rather than keeping us in."
He used his hands to demo the line of soldiers.
Tyrell spoke again,
" It's not impossible to get out, just very difficult."
Every eye in the room trained on his slumped figure, even the half asleep eyes of Erik.
" How Ty, they have every exit blocked off!" Bexley exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air.
Tyrell pointed on the hiking map, Miles groaned and Bexley gasped as they saw where his finger landed. Spook's forest.
" You guys made me go in there for a dare, remember. I never told you, but the forest thins out maybe ten feet in."
" But there's ghosts in there." Erik moaned, clutching a glass of water.
" You'll never make it." Aidyn's monotone voice blended in with the mix of protests, but Miles heard him loud and clear.
Around the table were three sets of different conversations and arguments. Bexley jabbed her finger at Tyrell with a red face, Erik and Aidyn fought about god knows what and Ben talked quietly to himself.
It was all a dull roar in Miles' ears until,
" Shut up!" He shouted.
Everybody turned to him,
" Tyrell's sort of right, going through the forest may be our only way out. As you can see it leads right to the Highway 111." He traced the highway on the map, " But, how are we going to find a car when we're out of there? We can't hitchhike to Toronto."
" That's what I did." Ben added.
Bexley scoffed, " Yeah, but there's six of us."
Tyrell closed his eyes for a minute and chewed the inside of his cheek,
" A car might not be an option while passing through other towns, travelling through the bush's our best bet."
Miles nodded his head in agreement, Bexley rubbed her arm with her hand.
" Why are we doing this again, can't we just stay here?" She whined.
Tyrell's eyes softened, he spoke to her individually,
" Miles and I need to find our parents. Plus, It'll be safer away from here and the trouble that's been stirring up." He explained.
" You think mom's in Toronto?" Aidyn spat.
