Millie took a deep breath as she stood in the middle of the quidditch pitch. The warm winds of September were leaving more quickly then Millie could've ever imagined, parting ways for the chilly October breeze. During mornings like this, Millie almost felt one with nature. She could feel the patches of grass beneath her boots, and the cheeky wind playing peekaboo with her robes. In the distance, she could see the Slytherin team finally making their way over, fifteen minutes late to practice.
Suddenly, nature wasn't so important anymore. "What do you mouth-breathers think you're doing coming to our practice late? We've got a game against Gryffindor soon and there's no way we're going to win with that attitude."
From within the sleepy crowd, Regulus Black struggled to contain his chuckles behind his palm.
Millie narrowed her eyes at her boyfriend, "Is there a problem, Black?"
Regulus smirked, leaning against his broom. "No Ma'am. Just ... yawning."
"Well yawn later," Millie said, "Everyone warm up. I want chasers doing drills in five."
"Where's Lucinda?" Mulciber asked, rubbing his crooked nose as it leaked due to morning allergies.
"She's busy," Millie replied in a clipped tone, prepared to hide her friend's secret. "It's her last year, you know. Being head girl and captain of the quidditch team isn't easy. She's also got her own fitness schedule that can't be overlooked."
"I forgot she was doing weights and stuff," Regulus mentioned.
"You forgot because you're the size of a twig," Mulciber teased, "Perhaps if you'd join her for awhile you could beef up those lady arms of yours."
Regulus flexed his arms, which were lacking in muscle, and smirked, "No thanks, I've got chess club to work out these puppies."
Millie rolled her eyes. "Anyways... I'll be taking over Lucinda's position for awhile. If you have any problems or questions concerning quidditch, come to me."
The entire team agreed, and everyone began their drills. Millie alternated between practicing with her fellow beater, Amanda, and tossing the snitch in different places for Regulus to chase after.
Nearly an hour later, when everyone had produced enough sweat to fill a small kiddie pool, Millie let everyone go shower and head to breakfast.
Regulus was the only one who didn't leave, walking up to Millie with an amused glint in his eye. "You're pretty cute when you're ordering everyone around."
"I'm not," Millie retorted, cracking a smile when Regulus grabbed her sweaty hands. "But I guess if you think that I'll have to make drills ten times harder than they were today."
Regulus' blue eyes widened for a moment before he relaxed into an easygoing smile. "Whatever you say, Mildred."
"Don't call me that," Millie said, crinkling her nose.
Regulus nodded and leaned his tall frame down to hug her. She suddenly tensed against him, causing Regulus to whisper, "What's wrong?"
Millie continued to look over Regulus' shoulder. "Your brother is coming this way. Quick, kiss me."
"Why?" Regulus moved his face in front of hers.
"Well, he's not going to interrupt two people while they're kissing, is he? That'd be awkward."
