Something happened.

She grew up.

The she became a they,

The crushes on boys became crushes on girls,

They found themself.

But something else was happening too.

They were losing their self esteem.

They could be called things like "fat" and "ugly" and they would take it to heart.

Cause they are different.

More different then people can see.

So different that they had to take therapy for it.

Their parents didn't want a child like them,

With their condition.

Their disability.

But...

What if that disability....

Makes them them?

That no one around them could imagine them any different?

They keep trying to be an example,

All while tearing themself down and making themself back up.

They dance horribly to music.

They can't socialize to save them.

Or sing, for that matter.

They can flirt.

They say "Please" and "Thank you".

They try to loose weight.

They try to be happy.

But how can one be happy when their own parents don't know them well?

Don't know that this condition makes them them?

They have seen the books their mom has been reading.

It's tricks on how to help it.

So while they are doing all of that, being happy...

They are hiding from their parents.

They are scolding themself for being them.

They try to be better, even if there probably isn't a better.

They are a B student.

They are gynesexual.

They are agender.

They are asexual.

They have their condition.

They have a beautiful girlfriend.

They are happy.

But their parents, family...

They don't really like their happy.

"Oh, you're gay? No. You think you're gay."

"Uh, I'm sorry, but I don't think non binary genders exist."

There is only one person they can turn to,

And even then she doesn't know about their girlfriend.

She doesn't know how many relationships they have actually been through.

Those tears? Must be a thing with their condition.

Their identity? Oh, they must be imagining it.

The real them isn't really them.

The self esteem problems? Oh, it's just a phase.

They hate a ton of the words their family says.

'phase'

'perfect'

"Perfect people aren't real, and real people aren't perfect."

They found this quote online.

They like this quote.

Because perfect people aren't real.

One can't be perfect.

Everyone has flaws.

The condition might be one to them, or their parents...

...but that condition makes them them.

Makes them not perfect.

Makes them real.

.......why can't their family see this?
