Chapter 7- The date tree
"Hello." A strange, yet familiar looking boy came up to me.
"Uh hi, do I know you?"
"Not yet, but I'm no monster so do not fret."
"So... why are you here?"
"To tell you something that you need to know, something that might help all your sorrow."
"What are you trying to say, why do you keep rhyming? I can't remember."
The boy sighed and smiled, "What were you thinking awhile back? When your eyelids shut turning your world all in black? When that hole inside of you was eating away, Leaving it like a bad tooth decay. What or should I say who was it that you wanted? When you felt quite daunted, Just look for the date tree and from there will you see. You will see what you wanted awhile back. When your eyelids shut, turning your world all in black."
"Okay dude, now you're repeating yourself and since when did a date grow on a tree?."
He smiled at me in a "poor thing hasn't figured what I was trying to say even though it was quite simple," kind of way. He shook his head which made me quite annoyed with it. Then in a blink of an eye he had transformed into the lady in my locket this time she had a headband made of seaweed. It immediately reminded me of Anahita, the goddess of the waters.
"When you go out today, look for a date tree. That's all there is."
"What's up with this whole date a tree thing? Wait am I suppose to date a tree? How is that supposed to happen? And thank you for not rhyming. You look familiar where are you from...."
"Don't think too hard my little sunshine."
That stopped me talking. My little sunshine.... my little sunshine. That got me feeling like my insides had it's own little sunshine. My little sunshine....

Stirring the chunks of oatmeal around my bowl the next morning, I thought back to my dreams and the boy who talked in riddle. Also to date a tree, I wonder what that meant... did I have to be a tree hugger and save trees... is that what it meant? But Anahita, the name I've given to the familiar woman told me not to think too hard. Maybe she was right and the answer was right in front of me.
"So Summer, I hear Tory has some plans for you today." .
I jumped up at the sound of another's voice. The voice had belonged to Shirley.
"Uh yeah I guess.. I mean... that's great, You coming along?"
"Um, well no I have some chores to catch up on."
"Come on you can do those chores sometime else, I'd like you to come with. It'd be more fun with you around."
"Well Summer...."
"So it's Summer eh!!?"
If I said I jumped up at the sound of Shirley then I hit the roof at the sound of the next voice. To see it was only Torrence, that small man that made such a loud and booming voice made me want to laugh but looking at the wide-eyed Shirley I knew better. A look passed between the two of them, something I haven't quite disfigured.
"Uh yupp, that's my name don't wear it out! Heheh" I put on a fake laugh and smiled at him even though the line seemed so old and not funny. He gave me a tight grin and walked to the fridge, brushing past Shirley on his way to it. I don't know if it was just my brain playing tricks or if I actually heard it but I heard Torrence whisper to Shirley,
"Don't push the limit."
Shirley tightened her grip on her apron, wringing it in her hands. Torrence gulped down some coffee and then,
