Maria returned the smile "and your daughter?"
"She's the most beautiful little girl in the world. Her eyes are even brighter than mine and they sparkle when she giggles, I can't explain how much happiness it brings me when she giggles and smiles. There is nothing more rewarding than watching her golden hair dance on her shoulders when she laughs and I know I've made her happy. She's ever so cute and mighty intelligent for her age and-"
"But I bet she cries at night. And she tells you she hates you when she doesn't get her own way. And I bet she throws tantrums and she doesn't return all that love you give her. I suppose she turns her nose up at things you spend money on for her which she decides she doesn't like. And your husband. I bet some nights he hits you and he makes sure you never say a word. I bet the two of you argue and oftentimes you cry yourself to sleep because you're breaking. But you can't divorce him. Because you would never find another husband as a single mother. I suppose he tells you that your dress doesn't suit you. Let me guess, he told you that you shouldn't come here because you belong in the kitchen caring for them."
