Rainy's POV
________"Ana please! Don't leave me!" I pleaded to the girl that I now looked to as a mother figure, as she left the house we were currently living in.
"No Rainy. I have to do this. You can't come with me." I rolled my eyes for the fourth time this conversation.
"Why not! You're letting Ericka go, and I'm pretty sure Carl is too." The entire time we've been here, Ana has allowed Ericka, Max, and Ryan to go to the meetings, but me? Yeah I'm stuck at the house. I honestly never thought that I would miss school until now, it only took the freaking end of the world! "You know that it is only because she's older, besides, Rick is Carl's father. He decides when he attends what." "What, are you saying you're my mother now?" Instead of answering my sarcastic comment, she just continues to stare at me before I finally get the message. "Fine, but bring me back the good snacks." Ana gives a small nod, then leaves for the meeting she is already so late for.
As mad as I may be, she is right about one thing. In this new world, she's like my mother, and like the old world, I should just listen rather than to argue.
The front door swings open and an angered Mack walks into the house. "What's up with you?" She tosses her bag to the ground and heads for the empty pantry. "He thought I was running." She says while pulling out her knives and gun and placing them into the hidden pocket.
"Who thought you were running?"
"Carl."
I honestly thought that he liked her, but of course I couldn't say anything, or else the would take turns murdering me.
"Why'd he think that?"
" 'Cause he saw my bag and got the wrong idea." Now that makes sense, today Mack was supposed to be going on a run with Tara and Heath. He probably thought that she was running away. I wonder what he said to her to make her this fudging mad. Sometimes I think that he can be worse than my moron of a brother.
"Well you know, you could always take me to the meeting this morning. That will definitely make you feel better. Especially since they have snacks." She rolls her eyes before nodding her head in approval. I can't help but grin at the thought of all the delicious foods they will have. Stale bread, leftover cookies, and molding crackers.
Yep, I just lost my appetite. But at least I get to go, and there's nothing Ana can say.
"No takesies backsies!" I shout as a grab her hand and drag her out of the house while she laughs.
"If you're going to act like a child then you might as well do this-!" She pulls out of my grasp and runs down the street, passing Ana and Ericka who bare the same smiles we have.
"Oh no you didn't Mackenzie!" I sprint after her, I make a sharp turn and collide into someone. I stand back up and realize who that someone was.
"Sorry Enid, I wasn't really looking where I was going." She pushes me back down obviously upset about me falling on her.
As I fall, I hit my elbow on the side of the porch breaking apart the soft tissue. Mack comes over to where our commotion is being held.
"Rainy, are you alright."
"No-"
"She's fine." Mack turns her attention to Enid who was now standing there with her arms crossed together.
"I didn't ask you, I asked Rainy."
"Well if she can't take a fall then maybe she doesn't deserve to still be standing here while others who never did anything are dead." She started to walk towards me before Mack stopped her by pulling out her knife and pressing the blade against her neck.
"I suggest backing the fuck up before I do something we both know I won't regret."
"Screw. You." She spits out at her.
"Have it your way then." Before she pushes the knife into her throat, Carol comes out of her house.
"Is everything alright here?" Enid pushes away from Mack and runs over to Carol.
"No, first she knocked Rainy down then she tried to kill me." Carol looks between the three of us for a couple of minutes. She finally turns to Enid.
"Go get Rick." As If on cue, Rick and the others exit the meeting. Damn, we missed it!
He looks at my arm and sees the knife in Mack's hand. Enid on the other hand, ran up to Carl, who like everyone else, was staring at the situation. I really fucked it up this time.
"What happened here?" Of course, Enid gives the same load of crap story that is bias to get Mack thrown out of here.
"Well actually Enid, we have a big window in our room and all of us witnessed what really went on out here, so, care to change your story?" Enid just rolls her eyes and walks away.
"Rick," Michonne walks out onto the porch and nods towards the house. Probably wanting him to hurry up.
"Come on, let's go inside."
We follow Rick inside of the house at sit down at the large table. Mack sits down across from Carl who is giving her questionable looks.
Another man walks into the room, Mack's eyes instantly widen when she sees him.
"Mackenzie, haven't seen you in a while, they came to Hiltop looking for you you know." Rick looks between the two figures.
"You know him? How?" Mack looks back at the guy and shakes her head at the situation at hand. "Old friends."
"So, how'd you get out?" Rick says trying to turn everyone's attention back to the original purpose of this meeting.
"One guard can't cover two exits. Or third floor windows. Knots untie and locks get picked. Entropy comes from order, right?"
Dang, this guy is smart. Especially if he is able to take out Daryl who looks as if he's gonna kill the guy any second now. Carl keeps looking at Michonne who seems very uncomfortable right now.
"Right."Rick leans back in his chair and looks at Daryl who does not seem ecstatic to be here.
"I checked out your arsenal. I haven't seen anything like that in a long time." Ericka looks across the table at me and nods here head towards Mack who is in fact staring at the new man. She said earlier that he is an old friend, but does she mean before or after everything happened. If it was after then that means that she came from a community, with other people, maybe more than we have. More people constitutes as more supplies and/or weapons. God knows that we are already running low on food as it is.
"What's your point?" I thrown from my thoughts by the sound of our kinda sorta leader's voice.
"My point is, my people have lots of food but we are desperately lagging in the weapons department. If you were to say help us take out a threatening group, then we might be able to form a trading system." This seems to interest Rick because he instantly sits up in his chair.
"You mean their are more groups out there?" This time it's the strangers turn to lean back."Your world's about to get a whole lot bigger."
After two and a half hours of sitting in the same little room, the stranger, who they kept calling Jesus, told us all about his group, Hiltop, and another group that he told us was called the Sanctuary. Apparently, the Sanctuary have men named saviors and a leader that goes by Negan. He doesn't seem like the nicest of people. Rick had decided by the end of the conversation that we were to go to the Hiltop and talk to the guy in charge about an arrangement. He lead us out of the meeting building and started to ask people who all wanted to come with.
"Hey Rick! I wanna go too!" He turns around to look at me before glancing in Ana's direction. "You'll have to ask her. Other than that, it's alright with me." I spin towards Ana who looks as if she has every clue what I am about to ask. "Fine, get in the back." I climb into the RV and plopped down next to a tired looking Maggie. I gaze out of the window to see Mack arguing with Jesus about something. She points at the vehicle then crosses her arms. Jesus just gave in and walked on to give us directions to the unknown community in god knows where.
