The Colonel Major absorbed all the scorching field of the attack with his weapon. There is nothing left. Just red hot steam. A quick movement with his sword dispersed the smoke that remained, the light of the quantum sword indicated the high index of absorbed nanoseelen.
The Zahntiger was not an ordinary quantum sword, its manufacture was even older than a first generation Blitz. It was difficult for a Krieger to reach the limit of absorption of nano-souls of a weapon, but it could happen.
The Zahntiger was famous not only for having passed from generation to generation of warriors, but for not knowing limits in impregnation or overload of attack. There are those who said that who owned it could be immortal but that should be pure legend, only stories that were counted from times of the old regime 300 years ago. The truth is that for now Meister did not seem to be able to dodge the aging.

Kazuya Nairobi did not seem impressed but satisfied.

—As long as Aniki, I see that your skills have not rusted with time.

—"Time is not our enemy, you know it well. Who has made you appear again on stage, Kazuya Nairobi? Quench your thirst for blood with just a few newbies?

—"Come on Aniki, are not you glad to see me?" I just wanted to get your attention. Or rather the one of your young ward, I know that I have spoiled the ascent, it is not well seen losing so many rookies with an Alpha and a Beta of your level and less, in a sad level one mission.

—"Is that your way of greeting, brother?" Liquidating an entire squad and attacking my lieutenant? I see the years have gnawed your politeness.

—I could not resist, a young legend, the future. I needed to test it.

—"The next time you come with your little games, I hope we do not have to clean your shit, Kazuya.

—Always so suspicious. Do you want me to cleanse Thebes?

—It will not be necessary. Cadets! You can return to the tower, report the casualties, every enemy has been destroyed, the Sergeant and I are just gathering data and synthesizing the reports.

The rookies left, exclaimed. "Yes, Colonel!" They bowed to me and were about to leave. The number two approached. Kaneda, if I remember correctly. A boy still soft, but with potential.

—Sergeant, we'll clean if you see fit. —they  bow his head slightly, awaiting my approval.

—Colonel and I will take care of that, do not get used to it, come on long!

The cadets took out their VEI, mounted on them and disappeared by the roof. No one would talk, nobody would say anything, disobey an order, give information without the supervision of your superior was considered high treason, loyalty was everything and the dome would know everything in due course.

—Well Meister, I guess this is the final dance! One by one, or two to two Colonel ?! —I reactivated my nanoalmas and my neurological points. I was almost recovered with all the talk.
My Blitz called for blood.

—Put your Blitz in, Sergeant Scheneider.

—What?! —Kazuya and Thebes looked amused my astonishment .

— Ja ... Meister —because? Was that the value of a Brother in Arms ?! I did not want one seen as seen.

—Don't worry Zweibeste, Kazuya can be something dramatic with the presentations but it is not our enemy, for now. They could have disappeared without a trace but have been waiting for us to appear, and knowing him, has something to tell us. Is not it, old friend? Come on! Spit it out now!

—Your second has wood, and is thirsty for war like us at his age, I wonder if it will be from legends innate or one that is made and consumed little by little. Do you think I would win my apprentice?

—What do you want Brother of Arms ?! You're not here to bet on our lieutenants, Kazuya. Because here, why now?

—It's the War, Klaus, it's going to explode already. The old Guard is gathering again.

—Come on brother, what kind of joke is that ?! Is it some sort of gathering of old glories? Kazuya, for this you have killed inexperienced cadets ?!

—Do you think after 30 long years I'm joking ?! The death of the dispensable strengthens the Auswhal. A blood bath and a new world are about as we dreamed Klaus. Which side will you be on? Brother of Arms, the Old Guard claims you and it is my duty to take you and the young legend Schneider with me.

—I did not have you for a sung mornings Kazuya, a war? The old guard? The TP or otherwise the DSL, the Abwehr, even Muramasa and Masamune would have shown signs that something is about to explode.

—Thebes, show him the copy. —Thebes approached the Meister and activated the neurotransmitter with image and sound. I could not hear it all, apparently the code only allowed the Colonel to understand.

—"Then it is true, thirty years with a cold war that seemed obsolete. A fragile balance of forces. And now the chaos ?! What the fuck do you want now? They already lost a lot with the Blood Wars, and we much more, Kazuya Nairobi.

—This time no Brother in Arms. This time the Old Guard will fight to create a new world, we must get rid of this rotten system. Klaus, we will not fight for anyone, we will fight for us.

—Kazuya Nairobi, do not wreck something, if you're not sure you can rebuild it better!

— The war is going to be done anyway. Nobody can avoid it, you just have to choose sides and goals.

—What do you want from us, you have the legends of the Old Guard and many young legends will join you without thinking.

—There are not many innate legends, Klaus. The new world needs legends of truth, authentic blood of the elite. — Kazuya Nairobi stares at me with piercing eyes.— Do you know how to read young Schneider?

—I've learned, old man. You know that well. -—What Kazuya Nairobi intended with similar questions? There would be war, better, we would not only be legends, but heroes, people died every day without more. What else was a war, DSL, Abwehr, Muramasa and Masamune, how many eliminated them and the Global Board of Directors?

—You know it's a Buch, Schneider? Meister looked at me and nodded.

—A non-existent object of antiquity, made of semi-organic matter, used to contain written and graphic information.

—"Good young Sergeant, then you will understand the meaning of this: We have found it, Aniki. The book of the ancients. We know what happened and why, all, all our questions, Klaus Stark. They have their answer.

—The book of the ancients? No fragments remained? —I could not believe what he was saying, where they had found it. Klaus Stark swathed his sword and looked at me. I could not believe that an antique, surely illegible, had created such a stupor.

—Where do we enter a Beta on the rise and an Alfa already almost retired in all this?

—Do you have him not told anything?" The young Schneider ignores his past and therefore his future.

—Meister, What is he talking about ?!

—My young disciple, of genes, speaks of destiny of the genetic lineage of all of us.

Thebes kept looking at me, it did not seem to be Kazuya Nairobi's level but the guy had temper, he had not let go. I felt his desire to confront me and mine were not far behind. It was clear that they did not work with the Kitsune clan, they just got in the middle to have fun and get to us. But, because here, why now, why do it on a common mission? And most importantly, what did they want from us? The war was never quite over, why was all this so important?

The Old Guard, Legends Innates, an object of the ancient, genes. What did all this have to do with me?
