Winter

When I wake I'm still on the bathroom floor and my wrist stings. I check the time on my phone and see that it's 11 am. I'm late for school. I quickly grab my sweatshirt from the floor put it on and brush my teeth and hair and leave. How did I end up sleeping all night I've never done that before? I park my car in front of the school and went to the principal's office. "Hello, how may I help you?" the overly cheery office lady asks. ‘I was late and I need a pass ' I sign hoping she understands. "Um I'm sorry mam but I don't know what you're doing why don't you just write it down?" she says and with a sigh, I pull my out my phone and type what I had just signed. "Oh ok here you go have a good day," she says and I nod as in you too and pass her a fake smile.

Once I make it to my third-period class the only morning class I have with Dean. Since all the seats are taken around Alice I look over to Dean and see that there are two open seats next to him and take a seat in the one closest. ‘Hey why were you late ' he asks through the mind link. ‘I overslept and didn't hear my alarm ' I reply leaving out the reason why I didn't hear my alarm. He nods and then we go back to listening to the boring math lesson. Thankfully the class ends fast and then we go to lunch. "Hey, how are you I tried to text you but you didn't answer? Oh and sorry I was gone yesterday," Alice says once she sits with her lunch. "Aren't you going to eat?" she asks when she sees I didn't get lunch ' I'm not hungry ' I sign, lie I was hungry but I'm getting fat so I'm gonna try and lose some weight. A little bit later Dean, Jake, and Max come sit with us.

"Why aren't you eating babe?" Dean asks and I shrug. "DID YOU JUST CALL HER BABE? OMG MY LITTLE WINTER’S ALL GROWN UP AND HAS A BOYFRIEND NOT ONLY THAT BUT DEAN WHITESTONE!" Alice shouts causing the entire lunchroom to look at us while I blush to hide my face in Dean’s shirt. "Oh, and she said she wasn't hungry," she says after a minute. "Ok people nothing to see here go back to what you were doing," Sammie says and I thank her in sign language. "No problem," she says after asking Alice what I said. "So you guys are dating what's Britney gonna do," Max says. Who's Britney? "We broke up a year ago she needs to understand that," he says with a sigh. "Yeah I guess she wasn't your soul mate," Jake says with a wink. ‘What? Does he know?' I ask through the mind link. "Yup," Dean says looking at me and then at Jake. ‘Jake and Max are wolves and Alice is Max's mate and Kylie is Jakes mate but Sammie knows nothing ' he says in the link and I nod. Ok well, that's cool then the bell rings and we leave. "Hey do you want to work on our project after school today," Dean asks and I nod.

I wonder if that girl from yesterday is Britney if she was then why did Dean leave her. She was beautiful, thinner than me, and prettier than me, and popular. The perfect girl for him, I mean, besides her personality she seems perfect. I bet if she was nicer then she and Dean would still be together. "What's on your mind?" Deans asks pulling me out of my thoughts. I shake my head as if to say nothing and he raises an eyebrow. ' What ' i ask in the mind link "oh nothing just that we've been standing in the same spot for about two minutes now because you zoned out completely" he says teasingly. Then he looks at me seriously "what's wrong?" he wraps me in a hug and once he lets go I tell him I'm fine and just nods. We take our seats as fast as we can because we're already a little late but so is Mr. Grandthom so we don't get into trouble thankfully. "Ok class how you guys doing on your projects? You have three weeks left," he says once he walks in not even addressing that he was late but I don't think anyone cared really.

I was walking out of the sixth period when that same girl from yesterday came up to me. "Hey freak, what do you think you're doing with my Dean?" the same girl from yesterday says pushing me into a locker. Why doesn't anyone stop her instead they all just continue walking or stop and stare. Dean left early today because he had some important family thing, Jake and Max left with him so I think it’s something to do with their pack. "Hello I was talking to you look at me" she shouts bashing my head into the lockers and I look at her. "What does he even see in an ugly fat mute like you?" she sneers and grabs my cut-up wrist causing me to wince silently. She smirks probably thinking her words are what caused me to wince. "Your just a fat ugly waste of space emo freak, nobody likes you not Dean or your little friends" she pushes me one last time before leaving.
