We take my car and drive off. Both Meagan and I are pretty done with this grief counseling crap so we go find a place far enough away for our liking from Mirabelle and end up in a small cafe in the central of the city. I'm starving, I've been too preoccupied to eat due to all the excitement of today. Meagan orders for both of us with the excuse that she knows what's best here. Again I don't argue. I'm so hungry that I almost don't even care what I'll eat just as long as I do.

While we wait for the food I give her an urging look. "Talk to me."

She shakes her head. "This whole baring our souls crap can wait for a little while. I'm famished!" she says and glares at our waiter as if that would make him bring out our food faster. I don't argue with her because I kind of want to just concentrate on eating too. The waiter tries to hold out on giving us our food due to Meagan's crazy eyes but in the end he can't handle the death glares anymore and comes by to clang the plates in front of us. We dig in and spend the next couple of minutes simply enjoying the feeling of energy returning into our bodies.

"So..." I start to say once we have devoured most of our burgers.

Meagan sighs. "So here we go, I guess. What do you know about me or my family?" she asks then cautiously.

I shrug. "Not much. I know about that boy who can freeze things whom Mom thought was getting abused. I know that your mom works at the bank. But that's about it."

Meagan pushes the ice in her Coke with the straw. "We would never hurt Isaiah. My little brother. Just so you know. We love him", she says as if she needs to point that out to me. It's in vain, though. It's obvious that Meagan loves her family very much. In fact, when we got here and Meagan checked the time on her phone I noticed a small blonde boy was her phone's background. I'm guessing that was her brother.

I nod just to make her comfortable enough to continue talking. "I never thought you did hurt him. But my mom doesn't know about any of this. She doesn't know about the magical abilities some people around here have so when a six-year-old started getting frostbites in summer what was she supposed to think?" I question.

Meagan doesn't respond to that and since she usually takes every opportunity to bash my mother I know that I've gotten through to her. Instead she takes a different route, trying to throw me off her trail. "Do you really expect me to believe that Nathan hasn't told you? Everyone knows he talks about Blood business to you."

I grit my teeth as I'm reminded why Meagan and I don't get along. She's way too blunt for her own good. "Well, everyone is wrong. He doesn't talk to me about that stuff. I don't even want to know", I snap.

"You'd rather live the lie."

I narrow my eyes at her. "If you want to fight let's do it. But first I want to know how you defeated someone like Mirabelle. She's the most powerful witch I've ever met and you just knocked her out. How?"

Meagan shrugs. "Once we figured out that a centuries old evil witch was back in town we started carrying hex bags everywhere with us. We knew it was only a matter of time before our paths would cross with her."

"When you say we..." I trail off, hoping she'll complete the sentence because I don't want to use a wrong term and offend her or something.
