Chapter 35

Kyara was sitting on a park bench next to Shu. Mizuki and Subaru were sitting in the tree overhead. "So, when is the wedding?" Mizuki asked. Kyara blushed, they hadn't discussed yet. "Soon." Shu said.

Mizuki smiled and put her hand out. "Pay up, Subaru." She ordered. Subaru pulled thirty yen out of his pocket and placed it in Mizuki's hand. "Are we missing something?" Kyara asked.

"Before we got to the mansion, I made a bet with Subaru that the wedding would be soon and he said it wouldn't be." Mizuki said triumphantly. The two couples looked across the park and watched as the golden sun disappeared over the horizon.

Mizuki jumped down from the tree and pulled Kyara to her feet. "Shu, I'm borrowing my sister for a bit so you and Subaru can have some brother time."

She pulled  Kyara across the street and ducked into a nearby cafe. They sat down in a booth by the corner. "I got it." Mizuki informed her. She passed Kyara over a rolled up piece of paper. Kyara nodded. "The deed to the house. Was he ever going to give it to me?" Mizuki shook her head.

"I don't think so, no. Kino told me to be careful when I got it, Tougo  was guarding it closely - apparently." The deed to the house was the ownership of the first Arkysa manor.

In their parent's will, it stated that - when they both came of age - they would get one of the manor's each. It also said that when Kyara came of age, she was to become Mizuki's legal guardian. "Happy birthday, Kyara. As of today, you are responsible for not getting me drunk." Mizuki smiled and rummaged through her bag again.

"It got a little squashed." Mizuki shrugged, apologetically. She gave Kyara a box. Inside was a CD and a squished cupcake. "I found the recipe for the cake when I was going through Mum's things in the demon realm."

Kyara took a bite of the cake and smiled. Mizuki had been able to replicate their mother's complicated recipe with ease and it tasted even better than what she remembered. She picked up the CD and her eyes lit up with glee.

It was BTS's new album. "Thanks a lot, Zuki." Kyara told her. Mizuki chuckled nervously. "I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or sincere."

She pulled her younger sister into a hug and, after a moment of hesitation, Mizuki hugged back. "What so Mizuki gets hugs but not your big brother?" Kino said, from the bar.

Kyara opened her arms and hugged Kino as well. "I'm just pointing out that I'm older than you, Kino." Kyara laughed.

They met the boys back at the mansion. "Happy day of birth, Kyara." Reiji said, giving Kyara a set of Math textbook. "Reiji? Come back babe." A tall man with black hair said from the door.

Reiji returned to his room. Mizuki's mouth was wide open. "I was not expecting that." Kyara said. "Which bit? The present or Reiji's boyfriend?" Mizuki asked.
"Both."

Ayato gave Kyara some new earphones while Yui gave her some clothes. Kanato gave her a miniature version of Teddy. Laito gave her a thong - that Shu looked at, smiling. "Don't even think about it." Kyara warned him.

Subaru gave her a new laptop. Haru and Tsubaki came to the mansion as well. Tsubaki and her siblings gave Kyara a bunch of electronics and swiftly left. Haru smirked and gave her a necklace. "A present from Lord Burai, Lady Mene and myself. It was one of your mother's favourite necklaces, according to them."

After a few more hours, Mizuki, Subaru and Haru all left - leaving Shu and Kyara alone. "What did you get me?" She asked.

"This." Shu replied. He leaned in and kissed her. "Are you sure you don't like this?" Shu asked, holding up Laito's gift. "You're so lewd." Kyara stated.

"I know but you love me."
"Do I?"
"I hope so, you chose to get engaged to me for heavens sake!"
"I guess I do love you, Shu."
