I See Through You

This is a poem I wrote a few weeks ago.

It's hard to keep a passive face
When I look you in the eye.
You never dare to look in mine
Or you be caught in your web of lies.

They weave under and over thoughts,
Sliding gracefully of the tongue,
Never getting caught on teeth
And from open lips they run.

My wits are there, I promise you.
What makes you think they're not?
Even if I didn't know,
You would eventually be caught.

What would posses a person
To lie to their friend?
Why tatter a friendship
That would likely never mend?

Not matter how strong the bond,
Dishonesty will break the hold.
A liar is a liar
No matter if the story's bold.

Inklings of truth
Masked in lies
It's not really the lying
But you I despise.
