Stranded

She was alone, that she was certain. Her hands were ice even against the fire of her breath. In the cold downpour, she was stranded, as if she had been left for dead.

She was sore and stillness would soon overtake her. The dark alley was a comfort to her, even in a time where she had nothing but the clothes she wore. The ground would be her bed that night, she was sure. The changing stoplights would give her entertainment for two whole minutes.

Who is to say that when she closes her eyes, they would open again? Would she see the dawn looming over the city skyline?

Luck would not be on her side that night. She drifted off, lying against the brick wall. And that is how a young man found her frozen shell, he was late by only two hours.
