As soon as Neil had connected with Malfoy Destiny grabbed Ruby's arm, dragging her away from the fight. She pulled her through the masses of students, yelling and watching the fight. Destiny ran into someone's elbow and felt a trickle of blood run down her nose. She hurried on, silently cursing Neil for getting himself involved. They passed many curious students looking around at the noise of fighting, and also passed Professor Saphurius who was striding down the corridor. Ruby held Destiny's hand tightly, tears rolling down her cheeks as they reached the Ravenclaw tower.
" Tear off one, and scratch its head, what was red's now black instead. " The doorknocker said in a flowing voice. Destiny glared at the knocker, not ready to think right now.
" Ruby? " She asked. Ruby just shook her head and cried. " Oh, alright! Uhhh... A ummm... Oh! A matchstick! "
" Correct. " The door swung open, leading the girls into a silvery blue room. The chairs were empty and the fire was bleak. No one in sight.
" Okay, Rubes come on! " Destiny said, hurrying Ruby up the staircase that brought them to the girl's room. Destiny pulled Ruby into the dorm room, causing her to spill her books all over the floor. Teony sat at a writing desk, and Jezzabell on her bed, holding a thick book and practising a spell with her wand. Jezzabell looked up from her book concerned. Destiny, ignoring the books, sat Ruby down on her bed.
" Are you okay Rubes? Did they hurt you? " Ruby sniffed, nodding her head no, then burst into tears again. Jezzabell shut her book and started picking up Ruby's books.
" What happened? Are you alright Ruby? " Ruby buried her face in her robes, her crying still going. Destiny glared at Jezzabell.
" It was that Stupid Malfoy's gang! They're idiots! The whole rotten lot of them! They circled her and started teasing. " She stopped to catch her breath, then added in a softer tone, "I'm so sorry Ruby! It was all my fault!" Ruby didn't answer, she still had her face buried in her robes.
"You've got to stand up for yourself Ruby!" Jezzabell said sternly, "You're a smart girl! You, of all people, are perfectly capable of standing up to those rotten Malfoys! Right Teony?" Teony didn't answer, too engrossed in her essay.
"Teony? Teo?" Still no answer. Jezzabell walked over to a line of ink bottles and quickly linked one with her fingernail. Teony jumped in her seat.
"Huh? What?" Jezzabell whispered something in her ear, making Teony's eyes widen.
"Oh, you poor dear!" She cooed, walking over to the edge of Ruby's bed. She dropped down on her knees, whisking a kerchief from her pocket. "Let me see you!" Ruby brought her face from her robes, her eyes meeting Toeny's. Teony gave her a stern look.
"Listen to me, Ruby. You will NOT listen to those foul little monsters! You are an amazing girl, one who obviously deserves to be here no matter WHAT others say. You are a beautiful gem and nobody can change that." She handed Ruby the kerchief and then glared more intensely. "Promise me you'll never forget that, will you Ruby?" Ruby looked straight into Teony's eyes and nodded fervently. Teony's smile lit up the whole room.
"That's a good girl." She whispered, hugging the little girl. Jezzabell and Destiny joined in, smiling as well.
"You're worth ten of Malfoy, Rubes! Of all of them!" Destiny said, squeezing her tighter. Ruby pulled away, smiling a little.
"Thank you all." She grinned, "I'm lucky to have friends like you."
"I'm lucky to be in this amazing house with you!" Destiny added, "Ravenclaw is more splendid than I could have ever imagined!"
