“Is this a date?”

“I wouldn't exactly call it that. I mean Maria and Eliza will be there, and so will John and Laf.” Alex rubbed his neck a bit nervously, foot tapping and hands constantly moving.

“You just named couples. So it's a triple date?” Burr smirked back at Alex. It was fun to mess with him like this, especially when he could get him to blush.

“It's not a date okay?!” Alex snapped before stopping himself and taking a deep breath. “Look, I just want you to come with us to the bar and have a few drinks. I'll pay. Please?”

“Sounds like a date to me…”

“Hey-”

“But I'm in. I'll be there at nine. See you then.” Alex wished he wasn't blushing as hard as he was.

_______________

The bar was nice enough, though not where Aaron usually went. He took a seat at the bar, waiting quietly for Alex and the gang to show up. He noticed Maria and Eliza come in and waved them over.

“Hi girls,” Burr said politely, waving at them.

“Hi Aaron,” Maria said before taking Eliza’s hand in hers, “You here with us tonight?”

“Oh my god, did Alex finally ask you out?” Eliza laughed. “He's been wanting to for ages, he just won't get over his pride enough to admit he doesn't hate you.”

“Well, he claimed this wasn't a date, but I have my doubts.” Aaron grinned, and Eliza gave him a knowing wink.

“Well we haven't eaten dinner, so we're gonna find a table and get a bite. Tell me if you need help wrangling Alex in. He's all bark and no bite.”

Aaron waved them off and waited once again, looking around at the others in the bar. He spotted Hercules in the back, with some guy Aaron hadn't met yet, probably a blind date. Thomas and James were at a booth eating dinner, though it looked like James was doing more coughing than eating. Finally, Alex walked into the door, followed by Laf and John with linked arms.

“Aaron Burr, sir!” Laf called, wrapping Aaron in a hug.

“I'm literally the same age as you, stop calling me that.” Aaron rolled his eyes but accepted the hug anyways, reaching over to give John a fist bump.

Alex walked up and waved, attempting a grin which looked more nervous than he had hoped. He tried to shake off his butterflies as he ordered a round of shots and passed them out to everyone. “Today, we are gathered here to follow a variation of Aaron's motto. Talk less…” he managed a grin as he raised his glass. “And drink more!”

Four rounds later and Alex was a goner.

Alex walked over to Aaron, pulling him into a booth at the back of the bar. “Hey cutie, havin’ fun?”

“Are you ready to admit this is a date now?” Aaron smirked, alcohol fogging his brain.

Alex rolled his eyes. “It's not a date.” For this just being an outing with friends, the kiss that followed was pretty intense.

_____________

Alex woke up to a raging headache the next morning, thankfully clothed, thankfully in his own house, albeit on the floor. He breathed a sigh of relief, but that quickly washed away when he remembered the events of last night.
He looked down at his almost dead phone before bolting off the floor, ignoring the wave of nausea. “Shit.” it was already 10:30, and he had a class at 11. “shit shit shit.”

Alex made it out of the house 15 minutes later, hair in messy bun and hoodie engulfing him. He practically ran to his class, since it was halfway across campus. He finally arrived to find… A locked door?

“Class is canceled.” Alex jolted at the sound of Aaron's voice behind him. “Guess we're not the only ones with hangovers today.”

“Uh, Aaron! Hi, I'm mean, hey, uh-” Alex stopped himself, wincing at how Aaron made his thoughts jumbled, or maybe that was the headache. “About last night-”

“Yeah, I don't remember anything either!” Aaron laughed, knowing smirk still pasted on his face. “It must've been crazy though, I've still got a headache.”

“Me too,” Alex laughed nervously, smile fading. It was almost disappointing Aaron didn't remember the kiss. Now he had no chance.

“Well, guess I'll go get some more sleep,” he sighed, beginning to walk back to the dorm.

“Oh Alex, one more thing.” Aaron pulled Alex by his hoodie back to him, faces to close for comfort and smirk on Aaron's face. “Your chapstick tastes good. Call me sometime.”
