“Can't you be nice to him for one day?” Eliza sighed and took a sip of her coffee, glaring at Alex. “He's not even that bad! I'm surprised you haven't hooked up with him yet.”

“Betsey, he's a prick,” Alex groaned and chugged his coffee, needing to wrap this up before his next class. It was bad enough Aaron was in most of his lectures, but now all of his friends were determined to get them together. “He thinks he's top notch shit just because his daddy pays for his tuition. And I don't even know what's going on in his head! He's too mysterious, like those emo kids in middle school.”

“Just try to tolerate him, Lex, be neutral for once.” And damn it Alex wished he could. Alex couldn't do “neutral”. Either he acted like he hated Aaron or ended up falling for him, which is the last thing he needed while trying to keep his GPA up.

Just then, Aaron walked in, ordering one of those complicated sugary drinks that Alex most certainly hadn't memorized and why would you think that and crap now he was making his way towards them. “Alex, hey, I've got next class with you. Wanna walk together?”

“Well if it isn't my least favorite waste of space,” Alex snickered, earning a kick under the table from Eliza. “Why would you walk with me? I literally torment you at every available chance.”

“It's called being nice, Hamilton. Clearly that's not something you would recognize. And if you must know, I don't like walking to class alone, and James is out sick today, so I figured we could.”

“Well, think Eliza is already walking with me, so-”

“Actually, Eliza is already late for a date with her beautiful girlfriend.” Eliza kissed Alex on the cheek before standing. “Don't shoot him on your way to class. Have fun!”

“Guess my schedule’s all freed up!” Alex slumped on the table, waving his hands in mock excitement.

“Come on, Lexi, we're gonna be late.”

“Hey, only Eliza and the people I'm dating can call me that.”

“Guess we'll have to start dating then.”
