I woke up and rubbed my eyes. I was in a familiar place but I didn't recognize it. I was on a white bed. It smelled of... ketchup? The sheets were wrinkly but you could tell whomever sleeps in this bed tried their best to make it neat. Or... neater. I was under a really wrinkly sheet that was kinda sticky and someone.. or something was holding me. As I focused on my entire body to give me more clues as to where I am, I noticed a cat snuggled in the crook of my legs. As usual, my legs were bent and the cat was right there. Is it Hailey? No.... she's in the living room asleep... how did I even get here? I thought. I was hugging a pillow like I usually do, due to the fact I cant sleep unless something's in my arms. The thing holding me stirred awake so I quickly shut my eyes. The cat must have felt the thing getting up and didnt like it because it jumped over me and cuddled near my chest. A shadow cast over my eyes, meaning the thing was over me.
"I know you're awake." It said. It was a deep voice. Almost like... Sans. Sans! But... why... even after I....
"You can open your eyes." He chuckled interrupting my thoughts. I opened them and saw Hailey cuddling me and Sans hovering above me. I blushed a light red. He poked my cheek.
"Your blushes are abnormal for humans." He commented. I nodded.
"It's complicated to explain." I said instead of my usual witty remark of 'who said I'm human?'. He could tell I was being serious for a change. Hailey got up and sat in beside my face, grooming herself. Almost like she was always a cat and never human. Or neko. Like it wasn't a spell. I smiled and booped her nose. She stopped grooming and looked at me, tilting her head.
'Why?' She thought. I shrugged and giggled. If she were human she'd shrug too. But instead she went back to grooming. Sans got off and went to the kitchen. I picked Hailey up and brought her to the living room to watch tv. Papyrus was still sleeping which took me by surprise. But the question still bugged me. Why did Sans take me to his room? Even after what I did, I just can't understand it. But then it hit me. We need to get back to the surface soon. Maybe we could even bring all the monsters to the surface with us! Sans looked at me. I smiled. "Sans!" I exclaimed.
"Yeah kiddo?" He asked.
"Well... we have to get back to the surface soon... and... I wanna stay. Only because of you guys!!" I exclaimed. Hailey turned human and decided to finish my sentence.
"So, do you think we could break the barrier and bring the monsters to the surface with us?" She asked. Sans shook his head. He had no hope for them.
"Nah, kiddo." He said. He knew something. But what was it? Hailey looked down. I almost did too but didn't. I needed to know what he knew.
"What do you know? How would you know? You know something." I said. He sighed and shook his head. I'm only making my chances worst.
"Kid..." he said. His eyes went black. A single blue tear fell from his right eye.
"I'll tell ya the truth. You need one human soul and one monster soul to cross the barrier. Humans can't criss alone. You'll have to kill King Asgore and one other monster to cross." He said. All hope drained from my face. Hailey must have already known. I'm the last to know everything... I put my head down as well and silently cried. Sans didn't notice and Hailey went up to Papyrus' room to wake him. I was left alone as Sans left the house. I sighed and curled up to silently cry myself back to sleep. After about an hour or so, maybe more, I was woken up by Sans. I looked up at him. I had a horrible headache and my cheeks were sticky from tears. Sans was carrying me to his room, it seemed. "Sans?" I asked quietly. "Hm?" He asked just as quietly. Everyone must have been asleep. "What are you doing?" I whispered.
"You'll see." He whispered back. The rest of the trip was quiet. No one talked and I kept my face in his chest so I didn't know where he was walking to.
