Chapter Ten

My mind was still trying to process what the hell was happening when I gasped in surprise, which led Max to believe that I was granting him access to my tongue and the green light to stick his tongue down my god damn throat.

Now,I'd had my first kiss before. But it didn't count,There were no fireworks in it.It wasn't enjoyable.

This one,in turn, was worse.I was being kissed by a 23 year old guitarist.I didn't even know Max liked me in that way.Hell,I hardly knew what he looked like. But,no matter how cute eh was or how nice,I knew that there was only one person that I wanted to kiss.

His name was Chris.

Once I thought it,it felt..right. But after having this discussion with myself,I realized Max was still kissing me,so I pushed him away. His eyes shown with shock. But he immediately cleared his throat and look out the window, ignoring my gaze.

"You should go now." His voice was strained and almost hurt.I couldn't see why.He didn't even know me that well.

My response was a light nod before I got out the car and ran home.Ignoring my parent's insistent calling from the kitchen,I ran straight to my room and locked the door behind me.

The second my head hit the pillow, darkness surrounded me.

2.)MHCl x volumeHCl = MNaOH x volumeNaOH

3.)MHCl = 0.50 M HCl

I loved Chemistry. It was my easiest subject.I understood it completely and it always helped me occupy my mind from unwanted thoughts.Thoughts like friends.Thoughts like guitarist.Especially guitarist.I shook off the thoughts that were trying to intrude and continued to work on the equations.

After about 35 more minutes,I was completely done with all of my homework.I had done both Chemistry pages,a Global History worksheet, and even started my draft on an English Lit. essay.

Thank the rock gods for insomnia,I thought lightly. It was now,I checked the digital clock on my nigh-stand,4:56am

I still had about 3 hours before I even had to be up. But I knew I wasn't going to be able to sleep,so I put all my books inside my messenger bag, quickly changed, and sneaked out through my window.I know, cliche.Butmthere was a large Oak tree across from my window. It didn't face my parent's room thankfully, and so I could sneak out when I pleased.

Although it was New York,it was on the suburban side.It didn't take more than 15 minutes to get to that sultry, noisy filled part of the City that was filled with tourist and reeked of pollution.

After about 15 more minutes of aimlessly walking around,I stopped at a little cafe.It seemed to be open, and as I entered the smell of coffee and vanilla extract hit me.I loved it.I went up to the woman behind the counter. She was a brunette, probably in her mid 20's,and had a kind smile.I asked for a Medium Caramel Mocha to go.

The cafe was called, you got it,Cafe. It wasn't too big and had 4 booths to one side, while the center had a counter that led to the back room.I few tables were by the window. It was a light beige color mixed in with brown.Different shades.

The woman, whose name tag read 'Elissa' caught me staring and smiled warmly before handing me my coffee.

"I started this cafe" she stated to say, shyly. Her voice wasn't too much of a high soprano,I actually liked it.It was laced with an accent.A British one.It suited her nicely.

"oh?" I said, while taking a small sip of my coffee. It was amazing.Perfectly blended.

She nodded slightly. "Yes,right after I graduated University. I told my parents I didn't want to become a lawyer,I wanted to own my own business." She then chuckled lightly,as if remembering something funny.

I smile played at the corner of my lips, but when I looked at the time from the analog clock directly above me,I almost spat out my coffee. It was 6:58.I didn't even realize I spent so much time here.

I frantically got up,waving a small goodbye to Elissa before I ran out the door.

It took me less than 10 minutes to get back home, probably because I booked it.

Once I got inside through my window,my alarm clock immediately started blaring Nirvana's Come As You Are.There was nothing like waking up to Kurt Cobain strumming away on his guitar by your side.

I sighed in relief and put my coffee down on my night-side table.I then continued with my morning routing.By the time I got downstairs,my father was groggily eating cereal and my mother was already in her business suit, brewing coffee.I smiled weakly at them.

Whatever today had in store for me,I really did not want to see.
