~DAD, NO!~
I take a single solid step towards them, and they all instantaneously back away.
"I'm just trying to get to the back, so none of you twits have to look at me." I scoff.
They split faster than Moses did The Red Sea, giving me quick access to walk through. As I stride past the start of the crowd, I hear a faint, "Who is that?"
I peer into the ocean of young faces, searching for the misfortunately uninformed. My eyes meet those of a boy with very messy hair and thin, round glasses, who gulps timidly when I lock onto him.
As I approach him, the students surrounding him back off, leaving him solitary and vulnerable. He notices, glancing around anxiously as he shuffles from heel to toe."I, as you've probably noticed, am as known around here as you are." I smirk as his eyes become the size of plates behind the fragile frames.
"H-How do you know who I am?" He stutters, breath hitching as I gingerly lean forward, smiling like I wasn't in the process of scaring the crap out of this poor boy.
"You're the only one on these school grounds who doesn't know who I am, Harry Potter." I whisper, his name laced with sickly-sweet venom on my tongue. His lips part in terrified awe as I lean back, thoroughly satisfied with my messing with him. I turn, curtly continue through the crowd like nothing had happened.
I make it to the back, leaning nonchalantly against a hallway pillar, sighing as I pick at my nails and think of how ready I am to get this sorting-business over with—"I must say, it is a pleasure to finally meet you, Miss Snape." I snap my eyes up, only to be met with spectacularly silver-blue ones. A notorious platinum-blond headed boy with a conniving smirk plastered on his face leans against the pillar opposite of me.
"And who might you be?" I copy his smile.
"Malfoy, Draco Malfoy. Your father, as I've been told, is very good friends with mine." Draco pushes himself off the pillar, extending his hand for me to shake.
"Mmn, yes, Lucius Malfoy's son. I've heard about you many times, but not from my father. People say our reputations predict us to be friends." I grin sweetly as I push myself to stand, gripping his hand firmly.
"I say we should say to hell with them and decide to be friends on our own." He mirrors my smile this time, matching my firm hold as well before letting go.
I cross my arms and lean back on the pillar. "I say who's really to say that will ever even happen?" He seems genuinely taken aback by my ability to directly stop him in his tracks. As far as I know, this boy is very used to getting his way, reputation preceding that his overly-spoiled brattiness and quick temper get him into more trouble than he's probably worth.Our conversation is quickly cut off as a booming voice followed by grand doors opening call us first-years in. We file in, all the older students staring us down like fresh meat.
Soon, student after student are called up to sit on an old wooden stool, a tattered and obnoxiously loud hat placed on their heads. It would murmur a couple words, then scream their placement for all to hear.Some are put in Gryffindor, which is followed by an annoying wave of screaming and cheering; Ravenclaw, followed by pristine, polite claps and whistles;
Hufflepuff, followed by barely any sound at all;
and some Slytherin, where the students were almost as devastatingly loud as the people from Gryffindor."Draco Malfoy!" Minerva McGonagall calls out.
"Wish me luck." Draco whispers to me.
"As if you have any doubts about which House you'll get into." I roll my eyes at him, making him smirk softly as he makes his way up, plopping down on the stool.
When the Hat touches a single hair on the boys' head, the Hat shouts out, "SLYTHERIN!"
