Daisy looked around.
She looked first at her friends, who sat beside her, huddled close around the simmering fire they had managed to start. Blankets wrapped around each other, hands holding other hands, mouths forming words that Daisy couldn't quite make out.
She looked up.
She looked up into the pair of bright blue eyes that somehow managed to shine even when the skies were stormy and gray.
The eyes that had looked into hers and told her not to worry about what people said, because it was what was on the inside that mattered, while he traced his hands over her heart.
The hands that were now wrapped around hers, grasping tight, as if letting go in that moment would mean letting go forever. The hands that sent endless sparks flying through her body, and that made her heart warm with emotion.
She squeezed back.
She leaned her head against his chest.
She was thankful, because it turned out this wasn't just for publicity.
He loved her too.
And in that moment, knowing that was enough for Daisy Carter.
