Mount Massive: Home Sweet Home

Lilith woke up from her third nap in the police car, it was almost 12 hours since Dr. Bert and her attorney signed her off to Mount Massive Asylum.
On the way, apart from the occasional stop at gas station to refill or to use the bathroom, the two police officers escorting her were discussing their destination and its history.

Mount Massive was founded in 1967 for the criminally insane but authorities ordered the asylum to cease activity after 3 doctors were killed by an unknown patient. On 1971, the Asylum was officially closed down.
A cooperation that goes by the name of Murkoff re-opened the asylum as a charity clinic for the criminally insane.

That is what the public knew, but Mount Massive had a dark feel to it, Lilith, who was desensitized by Dr. Bert's medication could even feel it in the air.

An hour passed by and Lilith still couldn't shake that strange feeling. That is until she saw the building.
Passing the security gates, The car parked in front of the stairs leading up to the entrance of the Asylum.
Lilith looked through the window up, estimating the height of building which was 4 or 5 stories high. Her gaze was interrupted when the door opened and an officer gestured for her to move out the car, she obeyed.

She kept her eyes to ground. somehow she felt as if her father was looking down on her, ready with his belt to whip her back just like when he caught her eyeing a boy from the neighborhood. She couldn't look up at all, she could only heard the dialogues.

"Good evening, sorry for being so late. We had to stop a few times for food and gas" The first police officer jokingly
"Of course, it's understandable, is this the patient?" Asked a man, Lilith could only see the hem of his pants. They were white, the regular uniform of the orderlies of mount massive.
"Yeah, she's been quiet most of the ride, hopefully she'll keep her silence up"
"Didn't she kill her whole family as they slept?" The orderly asked, surprised
"That's her, we were shocked as well. Apparently she's what the doctor called 'Dissociated from reality'"
"She snapped and had aa mental breakdown then went into auto pilot mode to deal with it" said the other officer, completing the statement of his friend.
"I see, well thank you" the orderly took a step to officers, seemed like he was shaking their hands and taking the key for her handcuffs "We'll take it from here, Drive home safely"

The officers went away, before she knew it, she was escorted inside and put into a wheelchair. The wheelchair was pushed around the hallways, no one spoke to her or the orderly pushing her.

She noticed the asylum to be seemingly empty of other patients, all the people she saw up until now are members of the staff and some hallways seemed to be going through some renovations.
Occasionally she would raise her head and look around out of curiosity before she feels her head fall down again, remembering her father, as if his hand was on her head pushing it down.
The hallways continued

The wheelchair stopped and with a quick look, Lilith assessed the situation. There were beds, male nurses and some people were strapped to the beds, dressed in dark orange uniforms, they were patients. She was in the Infirmary. A male nurse with a needle approached her, Struck the needle in her arm without saying anything.

They were aware of her dissociated mental state. So they figured she won't need any introductions.

On the corner of her eye, she saw a man walk in. unlike the others, he was wearing a suit which he covered later after putting on a lab coat.

"Are you okay, buddy? Oh right you can't talk, my bad" he was joking with a patient who couldn't speak. Somehow skin was grown over where his mouth was.
He stopped proceeding to the patient when he noticed Lilith.
"Is this the girl?" He asked
"Yes, Doctor. Her name is uh-" the orderly took out her file "Lilith Avery"
"She looks young, 20-21? I suppose?"
"Yes, sir"
"Did you take her blood to see if she's allergic to the hormonal therapy?"
"Uh no sir we just administered anxiety medication, she was fidgeting"
The doctor turned around, grabbing the necessary tools for a blood draw.

Lilith was keeping her gaze low enough to only see their hands. She needed to convince them she was ill.

The doctor took a prone stance, going down on one knee, he made eye contact and half smiled saying: "Hello, anybody home?" He laughed "I know you're in there, You answered the questions Dr. Bert asked so you have to be." He tied the tourniquet around her right arm "Excuse me, I haven't introduced myself, I'm Dr. Richard Trager, my friends call me Rick. I'm an executive Doctor here in Mount Massive" administering the needle deep into her arm, Lilith grasped the chair "Ahh so you do feel pain, that's so interesting Lilly, to be someone who's dissociated mentally and yet feel real pain" he looked up, as if he called her bluff as her blood poured into the glass flask. He smiled a wide smile "I guess we're done here" he pulled away the flask and the needle and removed the tourniquet, but still maintaining his position on his knee. "You know, Lilly, you're our first female patient here in Mount Massive, we'll be treating you gently and carefully as long as you cooperate wth us and completing your therapy, alright?"
Lilith remained frozen still and her eyes veered off onto the big patient that was sitting on the bed facing the window.
Dr. Trager looked back at what she was looking at and then took her chin firmly and turned it facing him "do we have a deal Lilly?"
Lilith nodded, shocked that he wasn't afraid of her.

Dr. Trager stood up and turned facing the big man and said "You'll have plenty of time to get to know them. They're here for the same reason as you." He continued while turning away "Go show Ms. Lilly her new home"

The orderlies wheeled out Lilith, leading her deep into the asylum, now leaving the renovated hallways and into old cracked hallways.

Lilith read the signs, this was the prison ward. Voices of patients howling from every direction.
When she reached her cell, the orderly told her to stand up, released her from her handcuffs and locked her in.

As he was about to walk away he heard her whisper:
"Home sweet home"
He turned to make sure she was the same person and he found her smiling
