We both looked at the heartless Marine Vice Admiral who laid on the snowy ground. The cigars he smoked had just burnt its last cinder. After a while, we walked away only to be caught in the line of sight of a sort of giant crocodile-like creature and a man I hoped I didn't have to see.
"Hey! Hey! Imagine meeting you! It's me! Thank you for everything you've done for me!" Luffy yelled making me freeze and hide behind Law who looked at me with raised eyebrows but understood when he saw Luffy.
"Straw-Hatter..." he muttered.
"Hey!" Luffy cried running closer. I was lucky that Law was tall and that gave me the advantage to hide. "I never thought I'd meet you here! Really, thanks a lot for before! Huh? Where's the talking bear and those guys?"
"I'm impressed that you have survived, Straw-Hatter," Law said in return. "But there is no need to feel indebted to me for saving you back then. I was just acting on a whim. We are both pirates. Don't forget that."
"Guess you're right. If we're going for One Piece then that makes us enemies... but I still owe a debt to a lot of people after what happened two years ago. How lucky that I got to meet you right after meeting Jinbe! Really, thanks!"
"Hey! There's a collapsed Marine over there!" Usopp yelled from on top of the crocodile. "Isn't... that..."
"Hey... Please save me, Trafalgar!" The crocodile pleaded. From the corner of my eye, I caught sight of Tashigi and the rest of their crew.
"Smoker-San?!" She cried.
"Smokey!"
"The Navy?!" Luffy exclaimed. "W-what? Isn't that..." he said looking at the group that was getting closer.
"Hey, this isn't good, Luffy! The Navy's here! Besides, Crystal definitely wouldn't be in a place like this! Let's go look somewhere else!" Usopp shouted.
Tashigi ran over to Smoker's heartless body and looked at the area that his heart no longer remained beating and cried quietly in pain. Her hand went to her sword. "How could you?!" She yelled at us and sprinted towards us with her sword drawn.
"Hey now, stop that," Law said calmly. "I can't stand such crudeness." He faced her making me shift to hide from Luffy's line of sight. "Room" I watched as a blue sphere enveloped me again and Tashigi charged straight in regardless. His sword stabbed the empty air and she collapsed. "Shambles" I quickly dispersed the sphere for him. "You never learn, do you? Don't get so serious."
"Hey, Traf! I wanted to ask..." Luffy didn't get to finish as Law pointed to behind the lab.
"Go behind the laboratory. You'll find what you're looking for there. I'm sure we'll meet again. We both have something we want back." He walked back into the lab and I followed, remaining hidden from Luffy. Once the door latched closed, I sighed in relief and took some clothes that I had kept in the bag that I left behind when Smoker called me out. The clothes that Law gave me were too thick and heavy to move in. Law was waiting patiently for me to finish and continued walking further into the dark lab with the heart in his hands. "Crystal... How long do you intend to hide from them?" He looked back at me while still walking forwards.
"For as long as it takes. I will not allow my death to affect their future and health." I looked back at him matching his stare.
"I remember telling you when we first met that there was a fifty percent chance of you remaining the same."
"And that leaves me with another fifty percent chance of bad luck. My family may be strong, but we all fear death like any other human."
"But you aren't completely human, right?" He stopped in his tracks and turned around to face me. "You are avoiding a very important chance to spend the remaining time before your Change. And the place I'm going to be in isn't the best place for you to spend it. Especially in this state." He poked my collar bone slightly but the pain the Change was giving me caused it to multiply and shoot up my senses in the form of pain. I did my best to keep a straight face but failed when Law pinched both my cheeks and stretched it out. "The symptoms of the Change: tremendous pain even from the slightest touch. Sudden pain attacks that occur randomly and fazes the victim. As well as very bad mood swings."
I slapped his hands away which caused pain to shoot up my hand but I ignored it and said, "I'm going with you whether you like it or not. You are the only one who would know what to do when it happens." He exhaled in a very annoyed manner and continued walking down the aisle. "Suit yourself. But don't say I didn't warn you." I smiled happily in victory and followed behind while playing with the tip of my front hair. The beating of Smoker's heart filled the friendly silence between us. 'Ever since I met him, I was finding every chance to meet him in any place whether it was to tell him the rules of a Warlord or just to be allowed to leave the island just to see him. He is truly like an older brother I never had. That is a fact that will never change!'
Law reached to some sort of combination lock and put in the code an opened the door. A weird purple mist accumulated in the middle of the room and solidified into a man with a smokey lab coat and sheep horns.
"What do you think you were doing, Law?" He asked while I stood firm next to Law. "And who is the girl?"
"I should be the one complaining..." Law intervened. "...Caesar!"
