Colby's POV
(Y/n) looked around the room, first at Elton, then at Devyn, Sam, Corey. Then me. I looked into her eyes, their normal (e/c), faded. Fogged up. Like her vision.
I didn't know what to do or say in that moment. There wasn't much to say. I wish this hadn't happened. I wish I had gone back.
To keep us from leaving. From getting in that car. From crashing. From hurting her. Just so I could hold her, love her, and see her without pain. Especially when I'm the one to blame.
Dr. Wailen walked into the room with a clipboard, interrupting my thought.
"Hello, my name is Dr. Wailen. I have everything you need to know about your eyes, but obviously you're unable to read it. While your eyes are healing, you will need a seeing-eye dog, you will have to take 2 medicines twice a day, and come in for weekly check ups. Basically, glass and dust got into your eyes and messed up your vision. Don't fret, it will only last for 4 months, 5 at most. Any questions?"
"No. I just want to go home." (Y/n) replied.
"Don't worry, I brought Mr. Brock's crutches, then you can leave to the animal shelter to get a guide dog. In the meantime, the two of you need to relax, and probably search for a new car. I don't think you can fix the last one." Dr. Wailen added.
She handed me a set of crutches and I stood up. I signed a form for both me and (Y/n) to leave. Sam also signed the papers, letting them know we had a way of getting home and a PA.
(Y/n) stood up with Sam's assistance, and we all barely made it out of the hospital. We found an Australian Shepherd at the animal shelter, whose name was Oreo. Oreo was trained for the first two years of her life to be a seeing-eye dog, but she was also taught to do tricks like a normal dog, so she would be pretty fun to have around.
We officially adopted Oreo, so we could keep her, even when (Y/n)'s eyes go back to normal. If they do.
...
The next morning, I woke up with no (Y/n), no Oreo. I checked my clock, 10. I didn't want to get up, but I needed to make sure my girlfriend was doing alright with Oreo.
I sat up and used my crutches to get up. I had no shirt on, but I didn't care at all. I barely made it downstairs, but found (Y/n) walking around the house with Oreo, probably trying to get used to it.
"Morning, (Y/n)." I said.
"Geez Colby. You scared me." She jumped. I was going to ask her if she didn't see me, but then realized she was half blind.
"Sorry. Did you eat yet?"
"No. I can't find anything in that damn fridge."
"Let me fix something then. I haven't eaten either."
