Searching and Found

After a few hours of endlessly searching for any sign of civilization, I gave up.

I had found a small cave while exploring the never-ending forest of vegetation. Dusting myself off of any loose debris, I crawled into the small cave. Wondering in my mind exactly how cold it got out at night in this forest.

I didnt worry much though, since the cave rock was still pretty warm from the sun. Still, I was shivering quite a lot from the surrounding chilly air.

Thats when I thought to myself that maybe, just maybe the dragon could help me out. Speaking of the dragon, where the heck was he, anyway ?

I looked around only to find him being his usual playful self. What was he doing anyway ? On closer inspection it looked like he had catched something small, and continued to play with it.

Just like a cat, I thought, as I clucked my tongue at him to get his attention. I started to wave my hand, gesturing for him to come to me.

He turned his head towards me, obviously deciding between leaving the small creature alone, or to get some attention from me. But it was too late either way, as soon as he turned his head.

Whatever he was playing with took this chance to scurry away out of sight. The dragon looked at me like if I had betrayed him, but came over obediently anyway. I scratched behind his little ears as a way of apologizing.

He purred in delight even after I stopped, looking up at me waiting for more scratches. Instead of giving him more, I asked him

"Can you make a fire, if I collect the firewood ?"

He blinked up at me, as if he was thinking about what I had asked. He then proceeded to jump into my lap instead. Snuggling up as if getting ready to sleep.

I unconsciously moved my hand to scratch his exposed belly. He really seemed to like that, and at that moment I didn't feel cold anymore. I don't know what it was but it was like I could almost feel this warmth just oozing out of him. It was kind of weird but I wasn't complaining.

Making fire was a luxury I've heard few can actually succeed at making in the great outdoors. Let alone, getting warmed up in the freezing cold. Or so I've heard from my collection of books The Council gave me.

Thinking of the council I started to get mad, how could they do such a thing to their faithful slave ? Where they looking for me this very second ?

I guess I really was easily replaceable to them. One slip up and they'd make a new clone out of you. Which got me thinking of questions I dare not ask, or know the answer to.

I pushed them to the back of my head and just focused on the warmth still oozing out of the dragon. Slowly falling into a deep slumber.

Hey everyone! I know it's been super long but I hope to write more frequently real soon;)
I figured instead of you guys waiting for a really long chapter after like a century, getting more frequent shorter chapters would be better. Please comment what you think of the story so far and vote too:)
