BEDS AND BREAKFAST

I woke up earlier than my alarm, kahit ang tagal kong nakatulog last night.

After checking that I have so much time, naligo at nagbihis na agad ako pero hindi pa ako lumalabas ng kwarto.

It might be too early, or I might be late and it's freaking me out.

I scolded myself, "Shunga."

Someone is calling me early in the morning – alam na.

I answered the phone in a blink, "Hello, ma. Good morning."

After a bunch of opo and a couple of bye and another opo and a final bye with a sweet I love you, the call with my mom finally ended.

I checked the time and it's almost seven-thirty, siguro naman gising na siya at nakapag-prepare na for a breakfast outside. So I took my sling bag again, and went outside.

The weather was good; it's a bright cloudy day.

After a few knocks, I heard the knob jiggle and the door opened, "Good morning."

"Good morning, Ye," I greeted back, "Ready ka na ba?"

She nodded faintly, umatras naman ako because I was too close at the door nung palabas na siya. Then I smelled a whiff of scent that was coming from her, it smelled like a freshly picked flower with a pinch of vanilla.

Wait, what? Basta mabango.

"Y-yeah, sorry," I said as I scratched my nape.

So, it's not hard to find a satti restaurant here because it's almost everywhere. But there's a well-known satti resto sa pueblo.

"Saan ba tayo pupunta?" Mika asked me, while we're waiting outside.

"Pupunta tayo sa Pueblo," I said and her face were perplexed, "Pueblo or bayan kasi ang tawag nila sa downtown area, at doon tayo pupunta."

Tumango lang siya and we were silent.

When a jeepney stopped on the other side of the road and the driver shouted Pueblo, I took Mika's hand in mine at sabay kaming tumawid papunta sa jeep.

She was blushing when she whispered, "Thank you."

I nodded and bowed my head down, nahihiya rin naman kasi ako sa ginawa ko.

"We're here," I told the woman beside me.
