Rimsak rolled his eyes, "As if." He told her before removing his gauntlets and helmet.
"Does training require you to strip?"
"Easier to teach if we are in the same ground," Rimsak pointed out as Talea was not armored, so it'd be pointless to show her how to move with heavy armor.
Talea stood in front of Rimsak, ready for her lesson. She wondered how it would work with him being so much bigger/stronger than her... but was determined to give it all she could. "Ok. Where are we going to start? What am I going to learn first?" She asked.
Rimsak debated this, knowing they couldn't stay long.... "First things first, you need a weapon..." he looked about, before grabbing his axe and heading further down the river. He made short work of two small saplings growing down by the bank. He stripped off most of the branches and he'd have to smooth them out at a later date but for now...
"Alright first things first... stance, position, balance and of course, grip." he told her as he planted his axe back into the ground, the weapon shoved in at an angle so the axe wouldn't weigh it over and knock it down.
Malik watched with amusement since Rimsak was stripped down to just the tunic he wore under his armor, simple trousers and his sabatons.
"I'll fix one of these up later, you can do the other. It's not the greatest, not the right size, length or even material but it'll give you practice to be.. resourceful and more capable of adapting," he explained as he chose the longer of the makeshift staffs before he pointed the other to Talea, "Catch." he told her before tossing the staff towards her.
Talea easily caught it, a smile on her lips as she looked forward to her lesson. She put her feet shoulder-length apart and knees slightly bent in on a fight-ready stance to indicate that she was ready to begin. She wondered why Rimsak almost always wore his armor... he look better without it on...
"Alright... Not bad, not bad at all." Rimsak commented, "Stand up a little straighter, grab the pole a bit more like," he held his weapon against his chest before moving her hands a but apart. "You need a tight grip, but loose... You need to be able to move the weapon with ease. This needs to merely be an extension of your arm. If your movements are not fluid, you will leave clear openings for attack."
Talea copied what Rimsak demonstrated, wondering how much he was actually going to teach her. She stayed attentive, in case he decided to catch her by surprise. "So.. what's next?" She asked, hoping for something challenging.
"Test your balance... And grip." He replied, before sweeping her feet out from under without a warning, letting her crash down to the damp ground. "Always hold onto your weapon. Even if your dazed, proper use of this can still keep an enemy back... Or better yet, deflect a blow." He said as he spun his staff around, and stopped it just above her face as she was on the ground.
Talea felt the wind get just a little knocked out of her, but wasn't about to admit it. She had kept her grip on her 'weapon' and now used it to shove away his from her face as she rolled to a kneeling position. Then she tried an upward jab with the end as she stood, forcing him to take a small step back.
Rimsak laughed, "Very nice!" He told her as he grinned, "Now get up, mi'lady. Let's see what you can do."
Talea grinned at the compliment, determined to impress him if possible. She spun around to hit his side knowing that he would either meet her weapon or try to avoid it and land a hit in her exposed area... she subtly shifted her feet... So she could duck when he did so...
Rimsak knocked her staff back, then shifted his grip to swing his back around at her from the opposite direction.
"Hmmm I want decide if Rimsak is training a squire or performing some sort of mating dance," Malik commented to Terra as he watched the pair.
