Time To Go

Minx looks back at Krism and she shivers. She moves and takes Krism's left hand. She just holds the dead woman's hand for a moment, before slipping the wedding ring off her finger. She drops Krism's hand, turning the ring around and around in her fingers for another moment before slipping the ring on on top of her own. She then stands and turns to Ohm. Her eyes narrow and darken as her body trembles and her hands clench into fists.

Ohm shakes his head, holding his hands up, "P-please, you have to understand.."

She suddenly shoves him to the floor, "You murdered her!"

She gets over him and starts punches him. He holds his arms over his face to protect himself from her rage. Minx screams, shoving his arms out of the way and gripping his throat. He grabs her hands, his eyes wide as she tries to strange him. He suddenly punches her in the face, effectively knocking her off him. He coughs, gasping for air as he quickly pushes himself back to his feet. Minx gets up just as fast and she tries to tackle him. Ohm side steps her, shoving her into the wall, "Stop it, I didn't have a choice!"

She turns to him, her hair hanging in her face, leaving the left side visible. Ohm shivers, "Minx, please.. She had turned, I didn't have a choice.."

Minx turns away, shaking. She speaks in a soft voice, though anger is still evident, "Cry's waiting for us at the car."

She quickly goes downstairs and Ohm looks back at Krism's body. A tear slides down his face and he shudders, tearing his gaze away from her. He whispers, "I kept my promise."

He quickly follows after Minx. Minx goes to the kitchen, grabbing the entire knife block before leaving the house. Ohm says nothing as he follows her out. He gets in the back seat and Minx gets in the front passenger seat. Cry looks between them, frowning, "Where's Krism?"

Minx says nothing, just fiddles with the wedding rings on her finger. Cry sees this and looks back at Ohm, expecting an answer. Ohm just stares out the window and Cry sighs, starting the car, Almost instantly, infected come towards them. He quickly pulls out of the driveway and takes off down the street. He could feel the tension in the car, something had happened inside that house that Cry wasn't a witness to, and whatever it was, it split the group.

He makes a mental note to interrogate his friends on the matter at a different time. It's obvious Krism is gone, but it's the means of which it happened that he's interested in. He assumes Krism had turned while he and Minx were on their detour and Ohm did what he had to It makes sense, and would cause the tension between Ohm and Minx he feels.

He just hopes the explanation is as simple as that. He notices Minx has the knife block and she looks back at him, noticing he's looking at her. She shrugs and looks back at her wedding rings, "We could use some weapons."

Cry chuckles softly, keeping his eyes on the road, "Yeah, we could."

...

Mark shuts the car's trunk, "Okay, everyone pile in."

Nate sits in the front seat, key in hand. Mark goes over to the garage door, looking for any way to open it so they can leave with the dead family's car. Everyone piles into the back seat of the car, leaving the front passenger seat for Mark. Tyler, Felix, Matthew, and Jack squeeze into the three person back seat and Ethan, Marzia, and Stephanie huddle together on the floor. The back of the car is full and cramped, but they all manage to fit. Amy is leaning against the car, waiting for Mark to get in the car so she can sit on his lap for the drive, since there's no way she can fit in the back, too.

Mark gets the garage door to open and he runs back over to the car, wincing at the loud whirring sound the door is making as it slowly opens. He gets in the car and Amy sits on his lap, closing the door. Nate starts the car, gripping the steering wheel tightly, waiting for the garage door to open enough for him to speed out of there. The sound is drawing the infected, and everyone knows it. They're all on edge, all scared out of their minds. Mark looks at Nate, "They hear us."

"I see them," Nate replies, eyes narrowing as he revs the engine, "Almost.. Come on.."

Infected shamble towards the garage from across the street and as soon as the car can clear the door, Nate stomps on the gas. The car's wheels screech as he speeds onto the road and sharply turns right. Nate zooms down the street, swerving to avoid the infected in the road. They all slowly relax as they leave the city behind them. Nate drives them through the country, loving the fact that they haven't seen an infected since getting off the main highway.

There's silence in the car, except for Amy's coughs and sniffles every few minutes. No one really wants to talk, or they just don't have anything to talk about. In five days the world they knew was destroyed, two of their friends are dead, and Amy's sick. The fact that she wasn't bitten and she seems to have the same illness as the infected scares them. The only thing that is happening to her that connects her to the infected that they have noticed, is the discoloration of her skin, veins, and eyes.

Amy's shaking, holding already bloody tissues against her mouth as she coughs again and Mark holds her close, petting her hair and rubbing her back. He pulls his hand back from her hair and there's some blood on his fingers. He looks down at her, where his hand had been, near the nape of her neck and he can see some blood in her hair. The blood is leaking from her ears. His eyes soften and he just holds her closer. He closes his eyes, What am I going to do when I lose her?
