Noppy had asked if they could meet at Annie's place. Annie obliged, willing for any time with her-dare she say it- coffee shop crush. God, when did she become such a cliche? She lived in a shitty shoebox apartment with a Fun Wild Roommate (tm) , took some difficult courses at a fancy college and had a love interest with someone she met over coffee. viktor columbo, this was too much. What next? Spamming the internet with cute couples selfies tagging it #cutegirlfriends for likes? (Annie smacked herself for this one. They weren't even together!!)
• At Annie's apartment
Heab was getting ready to leave. She said she was going to join a party with some friends and then maybe go the fair that was in town as well. Apparently upside down rides are very fun after alcohol, but Annie had her doubts. Caffeine through and through!
"No. Don't go!! Meet my-"
Heab's eyes twinkled, cutting off her roommate.
"Potential love interest? Sure thing!" Heab winked and then dashed out the room, laughing about how cute this whole scenario was.
In a little less than a minute, Noppy showed up. She apologized for her early arrival, traffic was better than usual, and how could she wait another minute? Annie wanted to ask for a kiss; that was just too cute a greeting. She instead quickly brushed her hand over Noppy's hair, muttering about how soft it was. Noppy clearly didn't think this was weird and leaned into her new friend's gentle hand instead of instantly pulling away, but Heab snickered from the doorway. "Just platonic you say? The way Annie's been raving about you, I dunno..."
Blushing furiously, Annie put her hand down. Yeah, it was kind of weird.Heab finally left, taking their shared car's beat up key. (It was dented but somehow still unlocked their 2005 Mazda. How it did, no one knew.) In it's place, Heab had left a sticky note. The chartreuse (Heab was an art major after all; she couldn't have ordinary post its) square had a wink emoji drawn on, and a little note scribbled on. "Have a fun time walking to a park or coffee shop!" How a talented artist's writing could be so ugly was something Annie pondered very frequently.
