There was comfort in routine and predictability. Annie felt so truly blessed; almost every afternoon Noppy came over. Between Heab's wild adventures and Noppy's work horror stories, recollections of past events and Annie's own sentiments, they were all easily having the best time of their life.
One evening right before Heab left again to meet at a bar with friends, she slyly smiled at Noppy and Annie.
"Those who cronch (those icebreakers) together stay together!" She winked along with her words, laughing. Annie cut her off, and Heab's face fell. It was very funny, really.
"If that's true, why do your relationships rarely last a week? Hmm?" When Heab struggled to reply, Annie continued. "What about Baekyeon? You dumped him faster than Jeremy could say Binchnuggets..." A blush creeping up the normally relaxed roommate's face, Noppy laughed. Annie just snickered. Flustered and embarrassed and through choked laughter, Heab muttered something about how he was a bit of an asshole who spent more time practicing for his "band" than actually being a good boyfriend... (yes, she made airquotes around band. Noppy made a note to ask why later.)
In all, Annie thought, she was really the luckiest girl. Her life now consisted of little moments like this that she wouldn't trade for a million dollars. And she was a college student, for crying out loud. Her debt was as crushing as her feelings for Noppy...
Smiling softly, she recalled another fun event.
The new squad (the NopNieEab, which is a name still under construction) met around the city frequently, not just in the little apartment. They were at a show of some sort one Saturday night, drinking shitty orange juice-cheap champagne cocktails, laughing at a complicated coffee order Noppy received that morning. Heab was on her eighth drink and nowhere near wasted, but Annie was just about completely intoxicated. She sloshed her fourth mimosa around in the plastic flute and leaned over onto Noppy's arm, bent out to hold her own drink. The two stood there for a solid minute, Heab squealing. It was clear she thought they made a cute couple... of besties!!!! (A/N Was that sarcastic? That's up to you to decide )
Noppy couldn't have felt luckier; she was spending time with friends she adored getting drunk on terrible drinks and high on good memories. If highschool Noppy could see her now... it really was proof that there was such thing as a near perfect life. Two years ago she'd have been studying herself into the ground and forgetting to enjoy the life around her..
