Calum's Point of view:
"Mikey stop hogging the remote!" Ashton shouted as Michael ran out of the room laughing, ash right on his tail. We were just relaxing at the house we shared when Mikey decided that it would be funny to change the channel and start playing Xbox. Luke and I watched close behind as the two rascals rampage through the house, knocking into everything and anything in their way. "Guys come-" I didn't get to finish my sentence before the door bell rang. "Huh, maybe it's those kids down the block playing a trick." Luke said and I shrugged my shoulders before going to answer the door. Peering out into the cold night all I saw were dark houses and blankets of snow across everyone's yard. Just as I am about to shut the door I hear a faint cry.
Looking down I see a basket with a pink blanket over it. I crouch down and see a note attached to the basket. It said:
Dear new parents,
You are the new care takers of my daughter, Skylar. I cannot take care of her any longer or fend for both of us. I had stumbled upon your house and saw how big it was, hopefully you can treat her better than I could. I am sorry to drop such a burden onto you but I had no other choice. Please treat her like your own daughter. I have packed some small supplies with her before I left. Thank you.
I had to re-read the note over again to make sure I read it right. New parents?? Maybe this was a joke someone was pulling, but then again... I placed the note into my pocket, picked up the basket and speed walked back into the house. "Guys come here!!" I shouted and the other boys came rushing in from the living room. "What's wrong Cal, who was at the door?" Ashton asked as I paced around in a circle. "What does that look like to you?" I asked and pointed to the basket. "Um a basket.... what does that have to do with anything?" Luke asked and I handed them the note. "Because I found this with it." Mikey looked up at me, then the basket and then me again. "You mean there's a-" "I don't know, I didn't check yet." "Then look already." I slowly walked over to the basket and a little whimper sound came from under the blanket.
The boys gathered behind me as I slowly picked up the blanket. As soon as it was off Ashton gasped behind me. Inside the basket was a baby with a little pink hat on. She opened her eyes and blue orbs stared back at me. Everyone froze and no one spoke a word untill Luke started to freak out. "This can't be happening, I'm not ready to be a dad!!" He paced and Skylar started to cry again, making him stop and come over. "Her name is Skylar right?" He asked and I nodded as he picked her up. "Shh Sky it's okay, Luke is here, shh." He whispered while bouncing on both legs.
After a couple minutes he looked down and saw that she was sleeping and put her back into the basket. "Luke, I'm pretty sure you'll do fine." I whispered and chuckled. We quietly walked over to the couch and sat down in a huddle. "So what are we going to do?" Michael asked. "We can't just leave her." Ashton countered and I nodded my head. "Plus her mom trusted US with Sky and I don't want to just give her up for adoption." I whispered and looked back at the basket. Luke looked at me and smiled, already knowing what I was thinking.
"Guys, we have a daughter!" He shouted and everybody shushed him. I smiled and walked back over to the little sleeping bundle. She was so adorable. From this day on I vow to treat her like a princess,
like my own daughter.
